Question about transferring a Magic Band from one person to another

We already have 4 Magic Bands linked to our MDE account but DS has opted not to go on our next trip - so we have an extra. We have let DD invite a friend to go. Can I change DS's Magic Band over to DD's friend for this one trip and then change the band back to his name later?

OR - if we opt to buy DD's friend her own Magic Band, can we take it off our MDE account after the trip so that she can use it on a future trip with her own family?

First you can't transfer Magic Bands between people.

If your DD's friend wants her own Magic Band she'll need her own DME profile. I'm not sure how old she is but she'll either need to make her own profile and link it to yours as a friend or her parents - or whoever has control of her DME account - will need to do it.

It was done for us at the MK. We had two Olaf bands and my son grabbed the wrong one (mine, I think). They were able to link the one he had to his profile. I was surprised they did it and didn't just give him a hard ticket to use. So they can do it, they just don't as a matter of course. Maybe they felt bad for my husband - I wasn't with him so it was just him and my son trying to get into the park for a YES class.

OP, you could just add her to your MDE account, buy a band and link it to her profile.

I'm not sure if there is a difference with those bands. I thought bands couldn't be transferred at all. It was purchased back in August 2014 and at that time you had to link the band to the person at the time of purchase. But yes, he had a four-day park hopper. They also had to monkey with the type of ticket he had. When I checked his profile, he didn't have the yes ticket listed anymore. It was a standard park hopper pass.

How old are the children? Would there be fingerprints linked to the bands? We have interchanged children bands by adding a ticket to another band. But I've never done it with adult bands .

You can definitely change the name assigned to a band, and add another ticket to it

Fingerprints are not connected to the MagicBand. The biometric scans are linked directly to the ticket and with a new ticket, the friend's biometric scan is then linked to that specific ticket.

It won't matter that the MB is linked to the DS' Profile/line.
