Hi. I recently purchased through the resale market. I was today told that the transfer of ownership by Disney was complete. I called Member Services morning to see if I could get my membership # (I'm hoping to transfer a cash reservation next month), but i was told that because Disney didn't have my social security # on file, they couldn't help me. The lady I spoke with though didn't really seem to understand the process. Am I wrong thinking I could get my membership # now? Or do I have to wait until I receive information from Disney in the mail? Any advice as to what I could do? Thanks,
Dave

i'm pretty sure it can take a few days to a week after closing for DVC to input your membership information. give it a few days and try again.

best of luck trying for a last minute pts reservation, but there is usually very little available on short notice.

you'll probably have to hang on to your cash reservation.

if you figured that you could cancel your cash reservation and book it on pts, that's not how it works. pts inventory and cash inventory are completely seperate...canceling your cash room just frees up a cash room for someone else to book. it would have no impact on what is available on pts.

Who did you speak to, MS or Admin?
MS likes to use your SSN for security and it's easy for them to use it to search for your account until you know your member number.

I would call member administration after about a week. They deal with account information like entering your social and so on. If you call and they don't hvae your social, you can submit it right away and start using your points...

I agree, talk to Member Administration not Member Services. They can ask you other information about your contract purchase to identify you. Have your paperwork handy so you can answer their questions.

I just want to mention, so you are not too disappointed, that your cash reservation through Disney is completely different inventory than inventory that can be booked using DVC points. There is no way to transfer a cash reservation over to a points booking.

Once you have your points in your account, if there is availability in the DVC inventory, you will be able to book it but having a room already booked will be of no help in securing a DVC reservation.

But I do want to wish you Congratulations and Welcome Home to the DVC Family!!!!:banana:

You can try to get a reservation on points ..... We booked a last minute trip a few months ago, got 2 nights on points and had to pay cash for the third night (which was the second night of our reservation)..... you can link the cash/points reservations together.

Availability in the resort in which you have an existing reservation may not be
available. Good Luck.
