For those of you who tip ...

I have 1-800-Got-Junk coming to my house tomorrow and I'm not sure how much I should tip them. There will be two or three workers and they will be removing an oven, a few pieces of old furniture and about 100 cinder blocks. (The oven and furniture are down one flight of stairs - FWIW).

I was thinking along the lines of 10-15 bucks each - do you think that's fair :confused3

(I'm not posting this looking for a debate about tipping vs. non-tipping. If they were bringing furniture into my house - I would certainly tip them and don't see any difference between that and this situation. YMMV - Just looking for an opinion about the dollar amount.)

How much are they charging you for the removal? As for the amounts you posted, the dollar amount seems right to me, but the actual cost would help confirm.

It depends on a lot of stuff for me. How long will they be there. How good of job they do if they are efficent. If they were polite. I would start out 20.00 and either go up or down from there

They can't give me an actual quote until they see the size/amount of the stuff. They charge based on the percentage of the truck that gets filled. Based on their website information, I estimate it to be around $200.

Yes, I'd certainly take that into consideration. If they were rude and sloppy - I'm not running after them them to tip them generously :)

Based on the reviews I've seen/heard, they are very efficient, friendly, clean up after themselves, etc. I'm basing my anticipation to tip on those factors.

I would go with what you were thinking... and keep in mind - they will probably get the fee for removal as well as cash if they recycle the stuff...
The metal and cinderblocks are items that can be reclaimed and last I heard the money wasn't too bad.

:) HTH
