Question about tickets...please don't flame me!

I have a question about tickets, so I understand more how this works. I know there is currently a significant discount if we buy APs as DVC members. I also know that we will need a 6-day base ticket for each of us in July 2010 when we go on our first trip home (2 adults, and our 2 children who will be 3 and 5 at that time). We are going to WDW one 10-night trip every other year and spending 6 days in the parks at least on the next 2 trips (2 days each DHS, Epcot, MK and skipping AK). So the AP would not be a good deal for us in our plans. DH and I also feel that park-hopping is too much for our kids at these ages so we are getting a base ticket. We are also not doing the water parks or Disney Quest just yet.

My question is (and please don't flame me!!)...if I purchase 2 additional adult 6-day base tickets and 2 additional 6-day child base tickets, would we be able to use those when we go back in July 2012? Our children would be 5 and 7 at that point so the child ticket would still apply to both of them. Would the tickets still be good 2 years later? This would save us at least some money off the 2012 price, if we could do it. I know tickets expire 14 days after the first use, but what if you hold off on using them at all? Could they be used years later? Anyone ever do this? Since we know we will be going back every other year I have thought of this recently.

No flames at all. YES you can do that. You can buy as many tickets you want at the current price today and use them 20 years from now. :goodvibes As long as you are not trying to use child tickets for kids that are over age 9 I see no reason for anyone to say anything. We could all buy AP vounchers today and save them to activate 5 years from now if we wanted too. Have fun.

From recollection, the only other note would be the tickets would only be good at parks that are currently in existance. If Disney built a new park (not that there has been any rumors), tickets purchased before the new park cannot be used at it.

AH Ha yeah that makes sense but I doubt they will be building a new park that would open in the next 3 years. :confused3 BUT who knows you know those sneaky imagineers. :lmao:

Thanks everyone! Just an idea DH and I were tossing around. Not sure if we will have all that money to spend up front for future tickets but it is something we are thinking about just in case. Nice to know it is do-able. Good tip also that it would not be valid at a new theme park.

I bought tickets for our January 2008 trip back in July of 2006! That was when I had the money available so I jumped on them. I saved about $80. Be sure to check out undercovertourist.com. They have really good deals on the Disney tickets. I don't think I have read a single complaint about them here on the Dis. Most people would highly recommend them.

Also, in case you didn't know, you do NOT need to buy the no-expiration option on them just because you won't be using them for a while. My friend almost did that before I stopped her:laughing: . She was glad to see her price drop about $300!:wizard:

Kristen...what does that mean you dont need to buy no expiration if you wont be using them for a while?

It is my understanding that tix expire 13 days after first use.

Kristen was referring to unused tickets. As long as you do not activate (use) the tickets they will not expire. You could buy your tickets tomorrow and use them in 3 years time, as long as you haven't activated them.

As a PP mentioned, they will be good only for the parks that are in existence at the time you bought the tickets. So if someone bought a ticket in 1973 and never used it, they could use it tomorrow, but only at MK since it was the only park open in 1973.

GotYa!

I thought I was getting porked(which we are) for adding the no expire on to our 10 day park hoppers..but they usually last us 3trips since we dont do parks every day of our trips

It kills ya though...ugh

As I'm sure you know, the per-day cost rises pretty dramatically after seven days, so the 8, 9 and 10 day tickets with no expiration start to cost more. This year, with the 7 for 4 special, it's possible to get a 9 or 10 day no-expire ticket at a really good price. Just thought I would point this out.

whats the 7 for 4 special?

is this for tickets or the room special?

we only stay on points when we go

Let me know..I love this board..good tips everywhere

We buy the 10 day with no expiration....our travel plans seem to be alot like yours.
