Question about the Xyron 500

Okay, this may be a silly question but I've been wondering about this for awhile now, is the refill for the 500 basically the same as the 150 only bigger? With the 150, I don't use the X part of it, just the refill cart. I can't really tell by looking at the box for the 500. Is it possible to use the refill w/o the machine? Thanks!

the X is the 150

I have the 250

I just tried it and you can use the cartridge without the machine. Just turn the gear that would stick into the handle.

As far as I can tell from the 500, it looks to be the same concept as the 250 but don't quote me on it.
