Will the Christmas theme be for the whole show or just an add on, like Tron was? I'm hoping it's just an add on.

Is there definitely a WoC Christmas theme this year? Last I heard, it was only speculation that there might be based on what was done for the 4th of July (just a segment of WoC was devoted to the 4th, if I recall correctly), but nothing had been announced. Things are always changing and news is always coming in, though, so I was not sure if I had missed something along the line.

If it hasn't been discussed in the Christmas thread, then that means there's no information on it yet (just like in the case of the CM party nights)!! Whenever there is any breaking or big holiday-related news, usually someone will come to that thread and tell us or we will be discussing it after hearing about it elsewhere.

(not true not true) Even Al Lutz's latest update at MiceAge doesn't seem to so much as mention a Christmas World of Color show, and Al is known for stating rumors and early-breaking news (often true; sometimes they don't pan out). Not saying the Christmas show will or won't come this year, but if it was definitely coming, I'd think he may have heard about it...

I hope it is an add-on if it happens; my mom hasn't seen regular World of Color. Then again, it might be OK if it's not an add-on...I'm not sure she'll like the Lion King scene of the regular show. :)

Actually, Al Lutz does make a reference to a "Christmas themed segment being added to World of Color" in today's article. If he's correct, it sounds like it might only be around for a few weeks, so I'm guessing the weeks closest to Christmas and New Year's rather than the entire holiday time.

I think a full-on holiday version of World of Color is definitely something DLR could do in the future. In fact, I think when WoC first began it was said that the whole show is already set up/rigged to where it can easily be changed to a holiday theme and then changed back to 'regular' WoC. But given the current state of DCA, I can't see that DLR would do a full holiday WoC until at least 2012, if not later. TDA/DLR would most likely want to wait until all of the construction is finished and the crowds are rolling in, and then start adding things to the holiday roster of events.

A brief holiday segment of WoC (like the one for 4th of July) seems quite reasonable to me. Whether or not it would be this year is anyone's guess.

Supposedly - according to one of Al Lutz's articles regarding the July 4th WoC segment - TDA was a little apprehensive about committing to a full Halloween version of WoC because they were not sure how it would be received by the public (I am paraphrasing). They wanted to test the waters with the 4th of July WoC segment and see what the feedback was like before forging ahead with a Halloween version. A Halloween segment was a possibility, however.

But...now we are smack dab in the middle of the Halloween Time season at DLR and, so far, no Halloween segment of WoC. What I am wondering/thinking is whether TDA/DLR might decide to do their Halloween segment over Halloween weekend - in other words, not for the whole season, but just on the weekend leading up to Halloween and on Halloween night??:confused3 I could see something like that happening. The 4th of July segment just ran for a couple of days, didn't it?

Christmas falls on a weekend this year, so if they were going to do a special holiday segment of WoC, maybe they would do it on that weekend and not for the whole season??

Thank you, longtimedisneylurker!! I had no clue - I don't follow what Al posts until HydroGuy posts about it here, and even then I don't always read it until a couple of weeks later. That's why I wondered (in my earlier post) if there was anything new that had come out that I was not aware of yet - I didn't see any big posts on the DIS about a holiday WoC, so I thought something could have sneaked in overnight and I didn't know!

I will read Al's article in a bit. Thanks again, for confirming this news - and it is news if it happens!!

Here is a link to one of the pictures that is circulating regarding the WOC Christmas: http://www.discussionkingdom.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2648

This was captured from the HOJO cam and shows the projection along the same vein as the Tron encore. So I would guess there is going to be some Christmas incorporated in WOC. I seriously doubt the entire show would be re-done, since this is something they have never done.

Thanks guys. I'm relieved about that. Yes, I saw a pic of them practising the christmas theme so it's definitely happening.

Very interesting. Cool pics though. Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

:hyper: I was secretly hoping there wouldn't be a WoC holiday segment as not to stress about seeing it. Insane logic, I know. :upsidedow

Oh blast; I was in a hurry and did a quick search for "world" and "color"…missed that my search function was case sensitive. :flower3:

Thrilled about the idea of a segment at the end for Christmas! Except the crowds will be pouring in to DCA to see it, if it happens, but I guess that's OK.

Here's a shot that was posted on the WoC FB last night.
