Question about the new bakery

Hello, DISers. We traditionally visit Blue Ribbon while we wait for the rope drop. Now that it's closed, DH and I are trying to make a new plan. Can you get to the new bakery before rope drop? Unless I am confused about its location, the entrance is past the point of Main Street where the rope drop happens.

I know there was a thread about the opening day and a couple posters went right away and might know for sure.

From another site a poster made it sounds like the Rope Drop was still at the end of Main Street and you couldn't get to JHB until the rope dropped.

Yes it was open. And "rope drop" was not at Main Street but at the enterence to eac land. I think due to the location of the new bakery.

When was this? Over the Holiday Period or the week after?

This was on Friday 1/13.

Thank you. It sounds like they have changed the rope drop location.

In the past they have pushed rope drop into the hub due to crowds, basically to fit more people in, rather than fill the Esplanade with people waiting at the gates. I suspect if rope drop is in the hub now that it's offseason, it is to access JHB. It may change back after the Main Street refurbishments are done.

This is very interesting. I am guessing thet they are only allowing poeple to line up at the entrances to Tomorrowland and Fantasyland? I wonder how difficult it will be to move across the hub from the bakery to find your party. It seems like this would have the added benefit of offsetting some of the chaos that can occasionally happen at rope drop, since people will be closer to their actual destinations.

There was a rope at the enterance to adventure land and from the hub to Frontierland. I am not sure what the tomorrowland side of the hub looked like but I am guessing there was similar ropes blocking that side.

We were there this weekend, and rope drop had definitely changed. There were five ropes, one across Adventureland entrance, one crossing the hub on the Adventureland side, one in front of the partner's statue, one across the other side of the street in the hub, and one across the corridor leading into Tomorrowland nearest Plaza Inn. They did the rope drop this way for non-MM guests on the weekend, and it was also this way this morning. We got to the gates at 7:45 this morning, and they had already let people in to wait at the ropes. There was hardly anyone there (at least relative to the crowded times we usually go to the park), so we were speculating that maybe they were still doing it this morning to give the CMs more practice at the new rope drop procedures.

On Sunday morning, the bakery was open for business before 8 AM, but that was an MM morning. We noticed this morning that they allowed people to line up outside the bakery before rope drop but didn't open the doors until 8. Don't know yet how things will be handled on days when the park opens at 9 or 10. My guess would be that they would open the bakery a little earlier than park opening on those days if they are doing rope drop.
