Question about the Mr. Potato Head pieces

Ooooo, it's the first time I've seen the dumbo ears...can't wait til June :)

I would really like to get a box of pieces for my son when we're in DL in June. He loves his Mr. Potato Head. About how many pieces can you fit in a box? What's the price for the box of pieces?
I buy four boxes every trip to WDW. I am addicted and I have all of my grandchildren addicted. So I buy a box for my house and a box for each of the the three houses for my grandchildren. I am going to DL in June and I can't wait to buy more. My last trip I didn't get enough Mary poppins items or the Mickey hands. I am so excited.

Well I got the giant potato head! If you are planning on buying more than 1 box that would be a better way to go as i think you can fit a lot more than 2 boxes worth in there. I got all the pieces for buzz, pirate, Incredibles, peter pan, tinkerbell, Ariel, Donald Duck, goofy pieces and several of the arms, eyes, and little accessories too.

How much was it and can you post a picture? I am still the only one this excited!

I would love to see a picture of that, too! We bought 4 boxes last time, 2 for us and 2 for Jeran's speech therapist. I would love to add to our collection last time, and I just can't see us limiting ourselves to just one box. If we got the giant potato to share, we could store stuff in it, too. That would be very cool

We aren't going until next year, so I have to live through everyone else for now

Here is the Mr. Potato head Bucket. It costs $45. These are most of the parts I fit inside. I always add tons of eyes, ears tongues, badges, any small items that can slip in the tiny cracks. Even if we already have them I still fill with more cause you can always use extra’s!!

Just remember that you can only buy the arms with the holes to hold things there. They do not sell them with the normal Mr. Potato Heads in the stores. I thought I had bought enough but I think we are down to 2 now.

that picture doesn't do it justice! My DH has thought about measuring how much you can get in, he wants to do it when there are a bunch of new pieces. .. when i first saw the big holder I thought, hmmm, is that a bank/???? cuz it was not labeled what it was at the time, so I asked a CM and he told me what it was. . . we have a big rubbermade container all our pieces are in and we are starting to be overflowed. .. I am the bad guest that tells all the other people, as we are stuffing our box with pieces, that you do not have to buy the potato, you can get those anywhere. . just stuff the box with the special parts. . . . .

This is my very first post . . .
I like the potato head for my 5yo ds. I just want to make sure I get this right. So I can buy a Mr. Potato Head at a regular store and then when I go to Disney I just need to make sure that I get the arms with the holes and any accessories I want and can fit in the $18 box?
This will be my first trip to DLR (going in Sept). I've been to WDW about 4 times in my childhood and in 2000 with my DH. I went to Tokyo Disneyland more times that I can remember for 3 years from 2002-2005. I'm anxious to see the similarities and differences with DLR.

You are correct. We have the Target potatoe heads and all the Disney potatoe head pieces fit perfectly. And YES on the arms...be sure to get some right and some left (sometimes hard to tell) they have holes (open grasp hand) that holds the disney balloons and other accessories. So stuff away on the parts and leave the heads to Target or Walmart :)

We just got back last week and we too got the big huge Mr. Potato Head full of all the pieces. First we filled a box but we did not get all the pieces that my daughter wanted to we went for a 2nd box and then the cast member showed us the big head. It was $45 but well worth it we think. Bonus was I had a 20% off coupon that my SIL gave me, she got it when she renewed her pass.

So if we have the potato head already, we can fill the box with just the parts for $18? For some reason I thought it said somewhere (this was like 3 years ago) that you had to buy the potato. But I may be mistaken.

We've done the potato and parts a few years ago. Looks like theres a whole bunch of new stuff since we've done it! Now I'm excited to get more, and since we already have a potato I'd love to just fill a box with parts!

Yes, you can buy only parts. You absolutely do not need to buy the potato itself. I have bought at least a dozen boxes (for friends and gifts too!) and have never yet bought a single potato. Enjoy!!

Awsome! I just wanted to double check that! Gonna get lots of pieces this time!

Yes you are right. Feel the box as tight as you can. Don't leave any holes in it. For example there is a little suitcase for the potato heads, open that up and you can fit a name badge in it. Disney wants you to get as much as possible. enjoy
p.s. they are addicting LOL

So I just returned, well 2 weeks now:( from my first DL trip, and I never did buy the potato head pieces, and really wish I had. They are super cute! They are at a store just inside to the right at DCA, but also they are in the gift store in Mickey's Toon Town. Hope you get some great things, they really are cute!

We got quite a few things, but I never saw the Mickey balloons, autograph books, wands...HALF of the stuff I see in the "big head" picture Disneyluvr posted. :sad2: I'm bummed; we've got three of each arm and I don't have anything but a glass slipper pillow to fit in it!

Maybe I'll have to ask for some magic :wizard: and see if someone will help me out with a box for DD's birthday in August. :tink: There are so many cool parts we missed!! And we were at EnginEars, too!

Engine Ears had a bigger selection then the shop in DL. It would be interesting to know how often they change the parts because we got different items in May then we did in Feb.

Kinda funny, I was telling my Mom about this, and she said that my son (9) is probably getting too old for Mr. Potato head. I told her that I doubt it, not this kind anyway, but if he is I'll always keep it for me no problem! :lmao:
