Question about the Ding Thingie

I loaded the software and I have it minimized on the bottom. I haven't actually heard a "ding", although there was a message there. Am I doing something wrong?

Run mouse over icon and right click it scroll down to enable audio notification and click it, after that do it again and make sure there is a check next to it. If there is than it is set to ding. Took me a while to figure it out.
