I just saw the pictures of the new 75 Mickeys that were inspired by various artists, Sir Elton, Michele Kwan, etc. Can't wait to see them.

I have a couple of questions. Are they all in the same place, in front of the train station at MK? Are the various artists names on them, or do you have to guess who did which one.

Looking forward to seeing them.

Don't know if they are going to stay in front of train station or be spread out through the parks, but each does have the name of it and who did it on the base.

As well as having the names of the artist on the base there is a small flyer that you can get from any of the CM's on Main Street (not sure if they have them through the park, but I know the turnstiles and steam trains CM's have access to them) that has the full list so you can take that home with you :)

As of right now they are all in the front of the park (they are inside and outside of the turnstiles, they currently go all the way down to the monorail and boat dock... They are definetly a site to see. Word is that they are going to be spread throughout the park, but they have not said when that will be... they look good in the front all together so who knows :)

I haven't seen the pic of this yet... if it is on the web, can you post a link?

Also, do we know how long they will be at the park?

Thanks

The are to be at WDW until April 2004 and then they are to be touring the country before ending up at Disneyland. After there stay at Disneyland they will be auctioned (early 2005) off at Sotherby's (SP?) and the proceeds will go to the charity of the artist choice.

Adam,

Could you post the link that you found on the web, I would love to see them too.

Thanks.

LibertyBelle - thanks for the info... I wasn't too worried about seeing them, as I live only an hour away and have been the past 3 weekends in a row. But I was wanting to tell my family to make sure they get down here by 'X' date to see them

Thanks

does anyone know why some of them say image available upon request?

I wonder.

When I first looked at them on the 18th, ALL the images were there, but when I went back yesterday, there were those few that said "images available on request". Haven't figured that one out myself.

That's really cool. They've been doing something similar with the Peanuts characters the last few years here in the Twin Cities (Charles Schultz's hometown). It's so neat to see what local companies and their artists can come up with!

I noticed that the ones that seemed to be missing were thos pertaining to professional sports...maybe they need permission to show those images????

KrnB - doesn't seem like MN is on top of these trends :goodvibes The DIS article states Minneapolis is a site on the tour - wonder if it will be MOA or the Fair?! Cool either way.

I could see it being at either one of them. Or they could do it around either St. Paul or Mpls like they do with the Peanuts characters, although I'm not sure that would work with a traveling tour. Either way, I look forward to checking it out! ::yes::

Seriously though I am really glad I'm going to be there to see them for real (we leave in 7 days!). I just wonder how I'm going to be able to scrapbook all those extra pages - I guess I'll just have to be selective!

A few summers back Chicago had Cows on Parade--they got the idea from Zurich, Switzerland. I think it was the first time something like this has been done here in the states. The cows were scattered all over downtown and seeing one was kind of a neat surprise. People would spend their vacations making sure they saw all the Cows. Since then they've done furniture and major league baseball stars (this summer when the all star game was here). Those weren't quite as engaging as the cows.

I'm looking forward to seeing 75 Mickeys!
