Question about thank you cards...

Hi guys! So, I wanted to do thank you cards with a pic of me and DF at the wedding holding signs that say "thank you".

but... I'm 2 months from our wedding and we're starting to get presents already (which by the way is awesome) and I don't want these people to wait another 3 months to get a thank you card. Does anyone know what the etiquette is on sending these out?

We are doing the same thing. Our wedding was May 5th and people probably won't get their thank you cards for another month. I believe you are supposed to send thank you cards within a few months (2, 3 at most) after the wedding. And I think you are supposed to send out early thank you's to the early gift givers.

A lot of our early gift givers (3 months before the wedding) have asked our parents if we are going to give thank you cards. And when they hear that we are waiting for our wedding pictures so that everyone gets that as part of their thank you, they are ecstatic and they apologize for being impatient.

So I say etiquette schmettiquette. Even if they have to wait a bit, they will be thrilled to get a more special card.

love it! Etiquette schmettiquette... that's funny. Okay, so I guess I'll do that. Maybe I'll send 2... but then, that's a lot of postage and this wedding has me broke already

I say etiquette schmettiquette too! But, I think the official "time limit" on thank yous is 3-4 months... which I thought seemed like an awfully long time -- but I guess as newlyweds people realize you have a lot of.... *ahem*... things to do.

I wouldnt go more than 3 months to send a Thank you card, but you have time to still do those photo cards... Ic ant wait to see it

I've been sending mine out right away... but it's only my FMIL and DM that have bought anything. I have to keep them on my good side

We are also doing photo cards (probably from Shutterfly) so everyone will have to wait.

My friends just held a Princess Shower for me last weekend. I am also doing photo cards from Shutterfly for these. I just ordered them today and I should have them in one week. By the time I get these out it will probably be 3 to 4 weeks after my shower but I am including some really cute pictures from the shower so hopefully everyone will understand.


My DF's aunt (who is 94) also gave us a wedding gift and will most likely not be at our wedding. I am planning on sending her a thank you card now because I just don't want her to have to wait for this. I am going to send her a picture of one of our engagement pictures from Misty. Tomorrow is my 3 weeks wait for pictures from Misty so hopefully I will have these soon.
