Question about taping night parades...

We are going to MVMCP. We just got a new digital video camera, a Sony trv18. It has a feature called "nightshot" which allows you to video in very low ligh conditions. I was wanting to video the night parade during the party. Does anyone have any experiece with night taping and/or "nightshot"?

In my experience, we haven't needed the night vision for evening parades. We taped SpectroMagic without it. It turned out great. I took video inside Tomorrowland Transit with & without nightvision. The nightvison didn't turn out. Just my experience & I am by no means an expert - I've been know to film the ground when I relax after taping the event.

I've used nightshot on my regular 8mm video camera. Although you can get some better focus because it deals better with the lighting you lose the color. I don't know if all cameras are like that but mine is.

I did use it more when taping at a wedding reception. It was pretty dark and it was a good way to get some pictures that the lighting wouldn't allow otherwise.
