Question about taking Claritin and/or other antihistamines

Does anyone have experience with side effects from taking Claritin (the allergy medicine) on a regular basis, specifically weight gain?

I googled and have been researching it a bit, but wondered if anyone here had any experience with weight gain while on Claritin or another antihistamine. Or any other crazy side effects, for that matter. I'm on 24-hr Claritin on a daily basis (this is the first time I've ever taken an antihistamine with regularity) and am starting to wonder about it... !

Really? I didn't know that was a side effect, but I'm fat anyway

Seriously, I've been taking Claritin for at least 15 years and I can't say I've had any side effects from it. If I gain weight, it's because I eat too much and eat the wrong things. I've also managed to lose at least 50 pounds, while taking Claritin, so I personally wouldn't blame the medication for my weight issues

I only take it when I absolutely have to, esp. with Zyrtec. They are VERY drying to me. I am hitting menopause and it just does mix.
My throat gets dry and I choke on food.
