Question about sunscreen at Discovery Cove.

One small package of Panama Jack sunscreen is included in each snorkel bag. I can't remember what the SPF was. I am reasonably confident that they would give you additional packets if you ask.....DC is great about making sure you have anything you need.

ok, thank you. I had read a review where someone said they would not provide more than one packet and I am very fair skinned so was a bit worried.

Is it only SPF 15? I know that they give you sunscreen that is safe for the animals, so does that mean you aren't allowed to use your own? I usually apply 50 spf for DS who has very fair skin.

That is what I heard. I have heard different things about bringing your own sunscreen. I have heard it is not allowed but have heard other stories that it used to not be allowed but it now is allowed. So, not really sure.

When we were there last July, you were only allowed to use the kind they provided. We have a package of it left over and I just checked - it's SPF 30. Hope that helps at least a little.

That does help. I'm sure we could get by with 30 spf, but I am a bit worried about them not giving enough. Sunscreen is one of those things I feel super strongly about...lots of cancer in our family so we're careful to do anything we can to keep ourselves safe. We reapply many times on a hot day where we are in the water. I may have to call ans ask...or is there a way to email?

Its not your average sunscreen; it's zinc oxide; which as stated earlier; they use on their animals if they are getting sunburned. A very small amount; goes a VERY long way; and it lasts for a good amount of time. But they will give you more; all you have to do is ask. Also; I was just there this past Tuesday; and as my family (unaware that they gave out sunscreen) sprayed away applying spray sunblock right in front of the wetsuit people; and no one ever said they couldn't. (thats not to say that some of the employees won't say something; but no one ever said anything to us about it).

But the sunscreen is in the bags with your snorkel and mask. If I run out of sunscreen I just go back and get another bag with all 3 in them again. It is the easiest way to get more sunscreen.

Just came back from DC today and they told me for more sunscreen ask at any of the booths and they will get u more. The package did say reapply every 80 mins.
