Question about Stings Roxanne song, meaning

Hi.

I'm listening to yahoo music and came apon Stings Roxanne song. I was hoping someone could clarify what this song is about. I think it's about Roxanne being a street walker if you know what I mean (trying to keep it as clean as possible).

Am I correct or not.

yes, that's what it's about. the "red light" district is where streetwalkers etc. hang out, so when roxanne puts on the red light she's going to "work".

Yes, that's what I have always thought it was about. He is trying to tell her he loves her and that she can stop doing what she has been doing.

Another revelation:

"Don't Stand So Close To Me" is not about a deodorant failure...

I was about 20 the first time I actually listened to the words--quite a shock! Interesting, too, considering Sting was a teacher before he made it big...

if you watch Moulin Rouge theres a scene in there call "El Tango de Roxanne" (im listening to it now...i love moulin rouge!!)

according to the movie "its about a man who falls in love with a ....." you fill it in

and then they do a fabulous tango number!
