please settle an argument i'm having with my DH.

we are considering staying at DLH for first time this November.

i am thinking booking hotel thru Orbitz and then parkhopper tickets somewhere else (wherever cheapest, i forget).

he says "how do we get the EMH/MM if we don't buy the tickets together with the hotel?"

I am 99.99% sure that it DOES NOT MATTER where you get your tickets from, as long as you stay on resort property, you get the early entry to the parks in the mornings. That is like, one of the big perks, if not THE biggest perk, of staying on-site. He says, how do i know this, how do they know at the gate if you're staying on-site. I am SURE there is a way, but he wants some sort of proof.

anybody have a link? i'm too tired to do an extensive search right now...

Guest name and dates of stay are printed on room key cards, CMs at the gate visually check (not scanned) keys during EMH.

As Nonsuch said above, names and dates of stay are printed on the room keys. Theoretically each guest arriving for Early Entry needs to have a valid room key; however, in practice CMs at entry only looked at one guest's room key in our group and let the rest in when we were there 2 weeks ago. I'd be sure everyone has a room key just to be safe.

When are you going in November?
Do you know about Dapper Days? Booking through DD the room rates are usually better than anything else. A room at the DLH is $259/nt Dapper Days info can be found here...

Congratulations you win regarding Early Entry.

Just to clarify...you will need two things to enter EMH as a resort guest...your park ticket and a valid room key with your name and dates printed on it which is your proof of eligibility for EMH. Park tickets and room keys are not linked...and where you purchase either does not matter.

If you buy a three day ticket in advance as a non resort guest, then the one MM day you get with that ticket is indeed tied to that ticket...but EMH as a resort guest trumps MM on a three day or longer ticket.

When we were there in May this year, they did not let in one guest in a large party into DL during EMH because she didn't have her own room key. So don't assume they will let your entire party in with one room key, or even a few room keys. The key doesn't show the number of guests booked in the room, so the CM would have no idea how many to let in if they did that. I'm sure some people book one onsite room and try to bring a party of 12 in with them who are staying off site. This increases crowds if they let them in and dilutes the EMH benefit for those legitamitely staying onsite. So bring your own keys!!

3 years ago we booked the hotel through Orbitz and bought tickets at whatever site had the cheapest rate with no problems. You get EMH by showing your hotel key and your ticket. We have also always needed to bring everyone's hotel keys. Your names are on the key and they do match it to the right person.

Each person staying in the room will have a room key with their name on it and the dates of your stay. This is what you bring to parks with you for EMH. You can purchase your tickets anywhere.

Children will also get their own room key as well?

The last two times we were at the parks, Photo ID for everyone including school age kids was required the first morning of early entry. Yes, everyone had to have a photo id(except young children of course) We made sure our children had their school ids with them the first morning. The CMs checked everyones id with the room keys and we entered the park. Every morning after that, the CMs did not require the picture ids but, did check everyones park pass and room keys. :hyper2:

When did they start checking a picture ID for children? We haven't been since April 2016 but we did not have to provide picture IDs for the kids then or before. We never travel with the kids student IDs and the last time we went the kids did not even have student IDs as not all schools require them.

This has never happened to me and I took my kids last May, most recently. They don't school IDs until at least Junior High school around here and even so, Id never think to bring it.

Just advising everyone of what we went thru to get in the park. We had friends tell us about having the kids ids with them. Sometimes the CMs want ids for everyone school age and older. Sometimes is the key. We always travel with state ids and school ids for our children. Getting through TSA is a breeze sometimes and sometimes it is not. Disney security checks and park entry can be the same way. One time they will scan your park pass and not give you a second look and sometimes they want to double check your park pass for whatever reason. CMs are not the most predictable people on the planet. The last two times we went to the parks, we were asked for photo ids for our everyone the first morning for early entry. We provided photo ids for everyone in our family. Everything was checked and we went into the parks. :duck:

I would, personally, throw a conniption fit. Like I said, my kids don't have any form of ID except their birth certificate. And I don't typically travel (4 hours away) with them. It simply cannot be a requirement to show children's IDs simply to utilize magic morning...
