Figures...I thought I had a great fare, and today I checked and can save another $40. I have seen many people talk about rebooking and getting a credit with the airline, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I don't want to screw anything up and end up with 2 sets of non-refundable tickets. I'd appreciate it if anyone could run through the process. Thanks!

Bumping for you - I'm on hold with SWA right now to figure this out as I'm a newbie. If I do this and figure it out, I'll post back. I know there are a lot of seasonal SWA travellers out there!

Go to Travel Tools and click on Change Air Reservation. In this screen it will ask you to select a flight (similar to the steps you made when you made your original reservation), you select your new flight (to get the lower fare) without changing any of the other flights or confirmation number on that reservation. You will get credits to use within a year of your original purchase date that will be tied to your confirmation number

Thank you!

So, is this still true for a DING fare? I just got off the phone and he couldn't change it for me and did explain in detail how to do it. He reminded me it must be booked through the DING fare email/link and I'd have to cancel the outbound or inbound and then get credit, then use the funds to buy the new portion. If someone has EBB, you lose this too. Luckily if I do this, we had only booked EBB for the return flight and the DING fare is already gone for our trip home, however the flight going to MCO is still available...

Unfortunately, you can't just change your reservation if you find a better DING fare. You will have to cancel your other reservation and use the travel funds to purchase your DING fare. Some people have 2 screens open and do the tasks simultaneously.

Thank you so much for the information ...it sounds pretty easy. Unfortunately, the rate jumped waaaay up in a matter of minutes (from $74 to $109!). :sad2:

At least I know that the rates do continually seem to fluctuate, and I will be ready the next time! ~Thanks again!

Just wanted to say thanks for the ideas! I ended up not doing it since one leg was already gone for the DING and it wasn't a huge difference for us. I love the idea of having two pages up and doing them simultaneously. That's what the agent stressed - make sure you don't cancel the original flight amount until you know the DING is still available. He did tell me the credits appear instantly so that was nice to know.

OP - I hope your fare goes down again! I noticed ours have bounced around just a bit but the DING was by far the lowest. Just keep an eye out for the DINGs...
