Question about southern CA ticket

So, hypothetically, if I went to Disney with two of my friends that live in Orange County that are AP holders, is there any kind of discount 1-2 day ticket they could get for me? Or do you have to have the SoCal driver's license yourself to use the SoCal tickets? I'm guessing no, but thought I'd check.

I have heard it can go either way.

The SoCal 3 day special is running right now and ends on the 25th. When we went last month and got it they checked both of our driver's licenses at the gate. I'd imagine some people don't check but Disney is all about money so I'd think most do to see if you have the right zip code on your DL.

I have an AP, but from every account I've heard and witnessed in person, they are checking ids at the gate for the SoCal tickets. Makes for quite a bit of a slow down if you're behind someone, but they are doing it.

Thanks for all the info! I didn't even know what the general rule was. I definitely wouldn't want to rely on wishing and hoping. (even at Disneyland) ;-)

My wife and I bought and used the 3 day pass on Saturday. They checked ID when buying and again when using. They also took our picture. It's a great deal if you live in so cal.

My sister and I were there May 1-3, she is a So Cal resident. She had to show ID to purchase the ticket and then the first time she used it (when they took her picture) she had to show ID. After the first entry she was not asked for ID again but her picture did show on the screen.

We have AP's and I bought the So-Cal ticket for my sons 9 year old friend. I was ID'd at the ticket booth, but not at the gate although they did warn me that they might when I purchased.
