Question about snacks

I am also diabetic. You can pretty much tell on your own what foods you can eat and which to avoid. Low to no carbohydrates: sugar, potatoes, corn, bread, desserts. Being diabetic means you have to know how to figure this out on your own.

Thank you so much for this reply but he was JUST diagnosed and we were simply hoping for some great ideas for snack options or side dishes that were different. As your signature says, I'll just google it next time. I'm sure that the answer will be friendlier.

There’s a couple of great resources online that I know of for diabetics at WDW. The second link especially because they have a lot of info and book recs in general for diabetic diets that would be useful to someone who was just diagnosed.

In addition you can also email Special Diets but I find they are sometimes hit or miss, relying a bit too much on boilerplate responses at times. I would really advise speaking with a nutritionist though, if you can get a referral. They can give you so much solid advice on how to adapt.

Your best bet is to bring your own snacks. Most ‘snacks’ are treats not really snacks

At ts meals sub veggies for starches. Skip dessert. Sugar free is not Keto.

At qs, skip the fries. If there is a toppings bar, load up on the lettuce and skip the bun and fries

I don’t know what is in the scrambled eggs, but I would skip them. Stick to whole eggs or even hard boiled eggs.

I would make a plan for meals for every day. Where do you want to eat. What is a great option what is a ok option. If there are no ok options, make a second choice. You can also ask for protein to be prepared simply w butter and not a sugary sauce

It is complicated. It is hard. The temptations will be everywhere! Your husband is smart to try keto vs what a standard diabetic nutritionist will suggest. The standard ada diet is horrible for diabetics. Everything in moderation is ridiculous. No one tells someone w a peanut allergy to just eat them in moderation right? Diabetics can’t handle carbs. Period.

You will have a fridge (right?) get stuff delivered.
Hard boiled eggs
Precooked bacon (food courts have microwaves)
Jerky if you like
Nuts
Hard cheese
Cured meats

There are diabetic sites low carb high fat. Stricter than Keto typically but it works so well!

Is your husband eating to his meter? Best way to find what spikes him.
Best of luck and enjoy your trip!

Sorry you took it that way. I meant not disrespect. Being diabetic means one has to understand what foods you can eat and those you usually have to avoid. Once one knows how to figure the carbs you can eat most anything, in small amounts.

Again, sorry I was not clearer.
