Question about snacks and the DDP

We are on the dining plan for July, on a 5-night trip, 4 of us. Our little one will only be 14 months when we go, so only 3 of us are "officially" on the dining plan (even though our little one will eat free at all the buffets and family style places we booked for our TS ADRs). So, 3 snacks daily. Thought it would be nice for DH and I to share some stuff with DS3. For example, DS3 usually doesn't finish ice cream by himself, so we could all try it, then later on maybe try something else. Plus we would love to snack around WS in Epcot.

Are things labeled "snacks" for the DDP when we go? I know there is a list floating around here with the official snacks, but I do not want to have to rely on bringing that with me and reading through it just to decide where to pick up a quick snack. Do they make it easier by labeling things? Do they know to take a snack credit when you give them the card, or do you have to be specific and tell them? I am so confused about this dining thing. The only times I went to Disney World I was 8 and 12 with my parents and no dining plan...and also in high school on 2 class trips and no dining plan. So I paid for whatever food I had. This is confusing, but I imagine they try to make it easy, yes?

Many things are marked, but not everything that you are allowed is marked. As of last year, there were many CM's who said, "Basically anything under $4 is considered a snack." Sometimes in the gift shops in the parks they couldn't process candy items sold there as snacks, but you could take your receipt back tothe resort - where the same candy could be processed as a snack - and get refunded.
I think maybe they have removed a few items this year, but that's what I'm looking to confirm. Last year, you could get a full sized bag of chips as a snack and a full box of donut holes - so either of those was really more than a snack for one person. There was talk that they were going to remove those two items specifically. You can also get drinks as snacks - that's still true. And I was able to get a cup of chili as a snack. It was pretty comprehensive. The trick, IMO, was to not waste it on something small, but still use the credits up. There were a few times when we got a cookie for $1.60 or so and paid OOP.

One exception, as I understand it, is the French pastry shop.

AS for theCM's knowing how to charge the DDP credits, we never had a problem, but you should check you receipts and keep rough track of how many credits you've used. On the bottom of each receipt, it will list a total of remaining credits. If you dine QS, it will list remaining QS credits, If you dine TS, it will list TS credits, if you use a snack credit, it will list snack credits - but it won't list all credits on all receipts. There have been cases posted on the DIS where folks got charged for more than one snack, or more than one meal. Your resort conceirge should be able to help, and if you ask, they will be able to tell you how many credits you have left if you forget halfway through your trip or something. I may not be doing a good job of explaining it here, but it was pretty easy to use really. It is easier than trying to keep track of cash - or credit card purchases! I understand that when mistakes are made they will credit your account. All your dining usages can be called up by them...
