Hi Guys,

I justed booked a ticket on expedia (gave them my first, middle, and last names) and they processed my ticket with half of my middle name attach to my first name: For example if my name is: Dental Tooth Girl, on my ticket my name is printed Dentaltoo Girl. Will I have any problems when checking in or with TSA? Expedia says no and thats how all their tickets come out... but I am worried, I have always traveled where my ticket matches my ID exactly. Thanks for any help or advice you can give me!

This is pretty common. I entered my information the last time I flew as:

First Name, Middle Name, Last Name

BUT, it looked like this:

FirstNameMiddleName, Last Name

I didn't have any issues at all.

What likey has happened is that they only have room in their middle name/initial field for one character (MI initial). Since you need your full name on the reservation, this is the only way they can fit it in there.

That happens to me all the time, never a problem. I have my name setup as Debra A. but my plane tickets and hotel reservations for work come out DebraA or Debbraa.

Eastern Airlines 1975, I walked through the terminal; I got on the New York shuttle; I found an empty seat, sat down and paid for my ticket when the stewardess walked by my seat. :cool1:

The only security check was when the stewardess walked by to make sure our seat belts were fastened. :hippie:

Back in May I used N's instead of M's on my wife's Delta ticket reservation for our April 2010 trip. :surfweb:

When I got the E-mail confirm from Delta; I saw my wife's name was spelled wrong I called Delta and they changed it for me at no charge. :laundy:

Now we have to do something about the middle initial on her drivers license and not on her Delta ticket. :laundy:

Baggage fees, meal fees, pillow and blanket fees, holiday surcharges....next Pay Toilets? :scared1:

If the regulations and fees keep coming we'll need a lawyer to authorize our Airline ticket and a Bank loan officer to pay for the ticket. :teacher:

Good luck all,
Joe

If you're worried, just allow some extra time and they'll put you through the "special" line at security. Where they just take extra time with your stuff, you know where you're "randomly selected"... I flew with my Grandma about a year ago and we asked my aunt to get her an ID card, of course she didn't and her Driver's License was expired (she doesn't drive.) Not a huge deal, they just put her through "extra" security. ...actually a good thing because we were the only people in that line and it allowed her to move slowly without holding anyone up. But I still found it comical... But yes, long story short, if you're concerned, just give yourself extra time.

No - you don't have to do anything. Not for this flight, at least.

The recent regulations require the airlines to collect the information. But it will be a good long while before they require precise matches at security checkpoints.

There may be plenty of problems with travel these days, but this isn't one of them, despite the widespread concern over it.
