Question about Sims 2

Ok, my boys are looking at buying it, but what I would like to know before they do is this.


Do you need to be running the Original Sims for Sims 2 to work or will it run without the original

We are running Windows XP Pro on our computers & can't get the original Sims to run on this system. We do have an older comptuer that needs a new hard drive installed & are considering using it for the original Sims & running Windows 98 or ME on it & had thought to use it for Sims 2 as well if it requires the original to run it.

Can you help??

Sims 2 is a completely new game. You don't need Sims 1 at all to run it.
