Question about Silhouettes

I am thinking of having a silhouette done of our DD5 this trip. Where exactly on Main Street is this located? Any idea of the cost? Also, how big is it and do they give you a packing tube or something so it won't get crushed in the suitcase on the way home?

Thanks!

Its a tiny little shop on the right side of Main Street as you are walking down disneyland. You can walk right by it if you're not looking. I'm totally drawing a blank what it is connected to, sorry. It is a great buy, like $7 or something, and you can purchase a frame also, which I recommend. I didn't buy one and I'm going to buy just the frame this year so put the one I did last year in. It is about 5x7 and they put it between 2 pieces of thin cardboard so you don't need a packing tube to take it home. You actually get two of them, reversed of each other, so that's really cool.

Is it Sylvia everyone, the lady that's been doing it forever?

I can confirm a $7 cost. We just did this. They put them between cardboard and in a bag but want you to keep them flat.

I believe it is connected to the Crystal Art store on Mainstreet. Facing the castle the store will be on your right hand side. But honestly almost all the stores are connected so you can just keep walking through them you'll run into it sooner or later.

I think we're going to do this also!! Now, I have 4 kids, can they do them all on 1 paper, or will I need 4 separate ones?!

You can do them all one paper if you wish (the cost structure changes for this). I have individual silhouettes for both of my kids and one that has the both of them together.

I also recommend buying the frame that they sell with it; it's very affordable and super cute! :thumbsup2

This is the best souviner in the park IMHO. My brother and I have had ours done as kids on our first trips and I had my son's done on their first trips. My brother passed away 8 years ago and now all four silhouettes hang in my kitchen. They are priceless.

Geez, I wish we had gotten them done when we were there. I've seen them but had no idea how much they were. That will definitely be on the top of our list next time we go!

My silhoulett was at 9 per person. They glue in on a cardboard. you can buy the frame for 10.

This is an awesome souvenir and pretty affordable too. If you get the frame, it come boxed so you can pack it safely in your suitcase. I put mine in the middle of my suitcase surrounded by clothes and it made it home to Texas, at that time, just fine. I do these periodically of my girls and it's so cool to see the silouette change a little as they grow. I started when they were babies and they are big kids now. I'm about due for new ones!

If you wanted to, they can put a character siliuette behind the child silliuette. I've seen ones with Mickey, Pinoccio, and Donald. I think they cand do just about any character. Of course, the pricing changes with this, but I think it's the cost of two persons on one silliutte.

We got them done in late October. I am almost positive it was $9 per person, but maybe that's just if you want multiple people in the same silhouette.

My mom had one done of my daughter to go with the ones she has of my brother and me from a Disney World trip in 1979. We also had one done with my mom, me, and my daughter. They are awesome! I can't wait to hang them on our wall!

Sylvia did ours...my mom had her sign them. She told us she'd been working there for 35 years! Awesome!

I bought the frames but wish I had bought 2 more for the "extra" copies of the silhouettes. I have been looking everywhere for 5x7 oval frames with no luck...well except for some website that has them for $80 each. Yikes. With the mat, you could put them in a regular 5x7, but I think oval looks better. The ones I bought from the shop have a stand so that you can put them on a table, but they stick out oddly when hanging on the wall. So check to see if they have different types of frames. But I would definitely advise to buy the frames too.

(The whole thing takes just a few minutes. It's really amazing to watch!)

Just did this in late October, too. Bought some extra to give to grandparents for Christmas. Frames are worth it. If you are into the whole hidden mickey thing, there are 24 hidden mickeys in the frame.

Oh, and they will hold them for you at the shop for the day. I had 5 frames, and didn't want to carry them around.
