Per DVC News.com:

Founding Member status was granted to the first 1,000 members to buy 160 or more points at the Bay Lake Tower. The gift is a framed print with artwork reminicent of that found in the BLT guest rooms. Founding Members also received their name engraved on a plaque surrounding the Tempo Fountain in the resort's courtyard.

So even if you were the first person to make their initial purchase at a new property, you would not be a founding member unless you were a DVC member adding on the required number of points.

Never the less -- Welcome Home, neighbor!

And founding member has different meanings, even within DVC.

The term "Founding Member" was applied to those buying at least a 100 point interest at existing DVC resorts while at Disneyland, prior to VGC construction, to give you the right to pre-purchase GCV before other members.

It was applied at AKV to designate the first 100 or so people (whether they were existing members or not) and they got their name on the tapestry.

It was used at BLT to designate the first 1000 or so existing members that purchased 160 points. Their names appear on a fountain.

None of the other resorts to date have had a "Founding Member" designation of any kind.

Since it seems to boost early initial sales, I think we'll probably see some sort of Founding Member promo for Hawaii and future resorts.
