I have a question. I know on certain days, you have to wear business casual (ie for Traditions, OJT [on the job training] and your classes), but my question is what kinda shoes are required to wear? I've heard people say closed toe shoes, but I've read online and it said open-toe shoes are ok as well...so I'm confused. Please help!

Per The Disney Look, Walt Disney World Resort Non-Costumed Cast Members must adhere to the following guidelines:

Women:
Dress shoes or boots in good business taste are required. Classic dress shoes are permitted to have an open toe, open heel, or a slingback (strap around the heel). Athletic shoes, sandals, and Western boots are not permitted. When wearing a skirt or dress, hosiery must be worn at all times and may be sheer or opaque in subdued shades. If pants are worn, hosiery and socks are optional.

Men:
Dress shoes and socks in good business taste are required. Sandals, athletic shoes, Western boots, and deck shoes are not permitted.

this should be what is accepted.

Peep toe
**Note** The rumor is the peep toe should only show 1.5-2 toes at most.

Peep toe WITH Slingback

These would be a general idea of a good "Dis look" Dress shoe

Granted I could be slightly off, as I have never been, but based on what others say and the Disney guidelines describes. Hope this helps!

For safety purposes, Female Non-Costumed Cast Members should probably not be wearing shoes with such high heels.

For Non-Costumed Men, the recommended style is the following:

yah i didnt search for the exact, it was mainly to show the heel and toe part, i know most girls are worried about even a 2-3inch heel, but personally i wear very high school due to my lack of hight so if i wear short heels i feel very off. =]

Thank you guys so much for your help! But I have one more question...I have these shoes at home...and I was wondering if they would also be considered part of the "Disney Look"

Just remember that if you wear those with pants thats fine but if you wear a skirt/dress you need to wear nylons, tights whatever which would look weird in an open toe.

I'm not sure if they would consider that a open toe and open heel, sense the back half is open.

I am confused. Where do they say that the shoes cannot be both open toe and open heel or that you cannot have anything more than a peep toe?

I am happy that I am a guy because all of this shoe talk is giving me headache, lol.

Glendalais posted it directly from the dis guidelines above:

not all 3, cuz they would just be a sandal basically. they need to be business-like, and classic.

I know it kinda stinks cuz more than half of my shoes are (and they are hella cute) but its the dis-look. classic, traditional, (conformed).

Alumni Advice: Don't spend too much time trying to find the perfect shoe before you go down. It's inevitable that after two days on the job you're going to go to Walmart in the middle of the night and pick up a hideous pair of Dr. Scholl zipper shoes because your feet are KILLING you. While all of the heeled shoes are cute, there's NO way you can wear them in any of the roles. Go for something flat with tons of comfort. :thumbsup2

Actually, I could lol...I'm usually in heels all day, so I make sure to buy heels that are cute, but comfortable for me from the get-go...but the reason why I'm asking is because I'm going to be a Character Performer when I get there, and the training is 5 days (I have already asked previous Character performers that I know and they all said that I have to be in business casual for each and every day of the training, as well as the classes), so that's why I was wondering about the shoes, because I need to wear different heels with different outfits on diffferent days lol (wow...that sounded kinda confusing)....but basically, I need to be in business casual everyday for about a week

she was speaking for the shoes for business casual days such as traditions and classes and such. not otj shoes.

and i adore heels, the higher the better for me ;]

Why you may love heels and can wear them all day in like an office. Just remember that if you are going to be working in the parks one of the days you have training is a park discovery day. Which means you will be walking all over the park and even riding a few rides. Once your out there in a skirt with nylons and heat/humidty your are not going to be loving wearing those heels then. Also think about the different surface that you will be walking around specially if you are located at DAK not so heel friendly with the uneven surface. Just some warning/advice

I adore heels too! With the outfits that I wear, flats don't really look right with them, so I'm trying to go out and as many heels as possible lol...

I was finally able to find the rule on this one. I was sure there was one, but it was a little buried.

Per The Disney Look, Female Cast Members wearing heeled shoes are required to have a defined heel no higher than 2 inches (5.08 cm.). Extreme styles are not permitted.

All Female Cast Members are required to be in accordance with this guideline at all times.

Yeah, that is true. I remember in my Traditions class, two girls were kicked out of the class and require to reschedule because their heels were too high. One girl's was 3 1/2 inches and the other girl's was 4 inches. Remember, even if you are mostly comfortable in high heels, do not wear them for first few days that you have to wear business clothes, especially when they give you a tour of the park you will be working at. Trust me, I usually wear high heels too, but my feet were killing me at the end of the day.

I don't consider 2in a heel..thats more of a bump. I'd rather wear all the way flats vs a short heel. lammee.
