Question about Rose and Crown during Illuminations

I have 2 reservations. One at Via Napoli at 545pm and a Rose & Crown at 815pm on the same night. My plan is for us to go to VN and eat dinner, and then leave to go to R&C to have desert, hopefully outside on the patio to watch Illuminations.

1. Has anyone done this before, or something similar?
2. Is it even possible?
3. Would I be able to stretch out desert, drinks and coffee at R&C if we have the luck to score outside seats?
4. Also, dont they allow folks that get seated inside the opportunity to go outside on the patio to watch the show?

Any and all advice or recommendations are welcome...

1 & 2. Default to answers 3 & 4. ;)

3. You might likely be seated "late" anyway, as there will be many other guests delaying their own departure.

4. Yes.

1. Has anyone done this before, or something similar? We haven't done your scenario per se, but we have eaten at R&C during Illuminations. Our ADR was for 7:40 and we weren't seated until about 8:15. I got the impression that might be typical because they were extremely busy at this time. We were also one of the last people sat on the patio, so if anyone came after us, I'd imagine they would have been seated inside. Everyone who was there at that time stayed put until Illuminations was over.

2. Is it even possible? I don't see why not!

3. Would I be able to stretch out desert, drinks and coffee at R&C if we have the luck to score outside seats? Yes. You likely won't be seated on time.

Yes. There is a standing room only viewing area, and anyone is invited to go there. The upper level patio outside has a mostly obstructed view, so many of these people will watch from there as well.

I like your idea in theory but after our R&C experience, we'd just grab a spot along the lagoon with something in hand if we were you.

We are doing the same thing although our reservation is at 715pm. The system only let me search through 8pm, and 715pm was the latest available at my 180 date. We are planning on a long celebration that night anyways (we have an anniversary and a bday) so there will definitely be drinks and dessert after dinner. I think we'll be able to linger long enough with all that to catch the 9pm show. If your ADR is at 815pm with a 930pm show (guessed per your ticker), I think it'll work out fine for you.

I think this is the best bet.

OP - you might be going into this with a thought that you will be safely seated on the patio (not guaranteed) with your dessert and drink right there and have a fabulous unobstructed view of Illuminations.

I love Illuminations and it's the only nighttime show at Disney World I will make plans to attend. I just pick a place on the World Showcase (OK, I do have a place I love) and watch it. I might have had a nice table service meal earlier but knowing I can see the show without hassles is well worth trying for the "perfect" view.

After 8 the odds of your being seated on the patio are slim to none. It would be highly unusual for someone already holding one of those tables at that time to leave it.

I'd cancel that, find yourself a good spot to watch (there are many) and buy a dessert somewhere like the Werthers caramel place.
