question about room upgrades

My travel agent told me that when I check into the Poly next month, to ask if there are any upgrades.
Do they normaly charge to upgrade? And if they do is it a discounted rate? We currently have a garden view, but would love an upgrade.

Yes they do charge to upgrade. Depending on the time of year you may be able to get a free upgrade. It doesn't happen as often as it appears on this board.

Free upgrades at the Polynesian are very rare. If there are rooms available you will more than likely have to pay rack rate to upgrade. If there is a discount available for your travel dates, I would suggest booking the view you want now.

We stayed at the WL the past 3 years and always got a free upgrade-we asked 2 times and the first year the CM just gave it to us with out asking....we go in September so that is the "slower" season....but hey ask...it can't hurt!! earsgirl:

We just got back from the Contemporary and when I asked if there were any tower rooms available I was told that I would have to pay rack rate to upgrade. Doesn't hurt to ask though...
