Hi y'all...
My husband's team is going to be down day after Christmas for a week to play in a tournament. We (myself and kids) are going to come down with them. My question is...
He (the coach) is getting his room paid for(one of the All Stars)...& we will be staying with him. His park hoppers are included along with a few meals. I would like to buy our park hoppers independently, since the groups rates are so high (yes, they're very expensive!!) Can I add a dining plan to my & the kids park hoppers (from undercover tourist, etc)?? We will be staying under his reservation at a Disney hotel. Thanks for the info and help in advance!!

To get the meal plan you need to book a package with Disney that includes room, tickets and meal plan all in one package.

The dining plan is tied to your room reservation, not the tickets. Sorry, but I don't see how you'd be able to do this.

EXACTLY.

Undercover Tourist has nothing to do with the Disney Dining Plan. DDP can be booked only as a package called MYW + Dine (and there are now various levels of that). By definition, a package is a room reservation plus at least a 1-day park ticket. And the package must be identical for everyone on the reservation. The number of days for which you must pay for the DDP is determined by the number of nights of your hotel reservation, and has nothing to do with the "days" of park tickets you buy.

Since he's part of a group reservation, I highly doubt that you'd be able to change his reservation to a package in his name. I have absolutely no idea about that, that's just a guess.

Let's say you CAN do that. Then what you do is reserve a 1-day base ticket for each of you in the party. Then after you check-in, you can upgrade any individual park tickets you want. In other words, at that point, you can upgrade your ticket and your kids' tickets to the number of days you need, add the park hopper or water parks or both, and so on.

The obvious downside to this is your husband doesn't need that additional 1-day ticket, which means you spent about $78 (for his ticket) for the privilege of buying the DDP, making the DDP a much much less attractive bargain.

But like I said, you might not be able to mess with his group reservation, so you might not be able to do this, anyway ....
