Question about resort surprises?

Last month, my mom surprised myself, my daughter and my grandmother with a trip to WDW in February of 2012. I called and talked to a cast member with some general cost questions. He asked me if I wanted him to save a reservation and I said yes. While he was drawing up the reservation, he was asking me some questions about those going with me. I mentioned that my grandmother was going and that she was turning 85 in January. I told him that she was a Disney fanatic and that she had gone over 30 times and that this would probably be her last trip.

He then told me that he would be making a note of that on our reservation, and that the cast members at the resort would do something special. Obviously, he can't know this for sure, right?

Here is my question: what could they possibly do? My grandmother would not want much attention paid to her (she gets embarrassed easily and then would get mad at me for telling them anything about her! LOL!), however, something small would be nice.

Anyone have any ideas about what could happen, if anything? We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge, btw.

I would guess that, if anything, it would be a small little something in your room, like a card or picture frame or chocolates. Just a guess.

I agree with Bowbat. It will most likely be something small like a birthday card signed by a character, maybe a balloon or some chocolate. My son celebrated his 1st birthday at WDW and it was noted on the reservation - he had a card waiting for him, signed by Pluto and a chocolate bar. It was very sweet.

I agree, dont expect a tv crew with mickey-lol-I'm the same way, i'd die with a big thing...i'd expect a nice small gesture, recognition of her in some way. probably chocolates, an i'm celebrating button or flowers
just look forward to it!

Thanks for the replies! I didn't expect much, but honestly, I was just worried that it would be something that would embarrass her--and glad to know the tv crew would not be stationed at the front desk when we get there!

I have a feeling that she will even put up a fuss about her birthday--I can already hear her saying, "My birthday is in January, why are they giving me something on February 1st?!".

I am very much looking forward to this. My grandma is wonderful.

Your grandma sounds wonderful. Just don't be disappointed if they actually do nothing. The CM can put a note, but that doesn't often mean anything.
