Staying at the WL in January 2022, and was wondering if we will encounter any issues if we take the boat over to the Contemporary without any dining reservations? We normally use this route when we eat at MK area resorts (to catch the monorail). I know folks are being turned away if they drive in, but what if you're coming in on WDW transportation? Has anyone had any recent experience with this? Thanks!

If you arrive via Disney transportation, or by walking from a park, no one will bat an eye. It’s only arriving by car, because of the issues around resort parking, that you’d have any trouble. Enjoy your visits!

My impression based on various threads I have seen is that trying to park your car at one of the MK monorail resorts is restricted since people try use the free parking as a way to avoid paying to park for MK. That also causes the lots to fill up such that those actually staying there have no place to park. If arriving by various types of Disney transportation, no one is going to ask you where you are going. During our last trip we stayed at the Contemporary, when we exited the monorail at the Polynesian, there is no Disney employee asking people where they are going. You can just walk around, shop, eat or have a Dole Whip without any issues.

Earlier this month the boat from WL to CR wasn’t running. Only the MK boat. Hopefully it will be back by January. We missed it.

Thank you all for your replies! Yes, we sure hope the Contemporary boat is running by 2022, but we can do a detour to MK if needed to pick up the monorail. Thank you!
