Hi all,
This is absolutely new territory for me.
I've gone to WDW several times a year every year and was hoping to possibly try on the disney cruse in the future.
However, I have several questions and hopefully someone could help me.

1. Was wondering if anybody know how far in advance could you reserve a disney cruise using points?
2. Also if you're reserving for say 2006 cruise, which use year will they use? The current one or the future one.
3. Do they give room upgrades if we use points?
4. What's the advantage in using points than pay cash directly? if any?

Thanks so much for all your help. :D

I believe they will only allow you to reserve 11 months out.

2. Also if you're reserving for say 2006 cruise, which use year will they use? The current one or the future one.

You can use borrowed or banked points for the cruise. The use year is the one your cruise occurs in.

(ie my cruise is in Dec. 2004. I am using points from my dec 2004 year and borrowing some from my dec 2005 year. If I had points banked from 2003 I could have used them too.)

3. Do they give room upgrades if we use points?

I got the room we were assigned for in Sept. Haven't heard of anyone with upgrades but some have claimed to upgrade at the port for cash on day of cruise. (DVC Claims you can only upgrade with points though.)

4. What's the advantage in using points than pay cash directly? if any?

We used our points because I did not have time to rent and/or worry about renter cancelling, etc...

Cash prices are much cheaper when you look at what/if you could rent your points for.

(ex: CASH PRICE: a cat 11 in low season can sometimes be as low as $399 or an equivalent of 40 points sold at $10 @. If I used my points, then the points price would be around 70 points or so per first two people. It just went up so I'm not sure.)

They did give pretty good re-book deals on board for DVC. Up to 16 points off per person for 3 or 4 day. which is why we did points again...

I think next time I'll try the rental thing though because we only have 200 pts per year and we would like to do a 7day eventually....

Thanks so much for your help!!! :D
I'm looking forward to planning...

And have fun on your upcoming cruise!!!
