Hi all...
We will be staying at SSR at the end of the month, and I have done tons of research about which buildings are the best. Seems like Congress Park and the Springs. When I booked the room- I requested either of these 2 areas. Im just wondering how often they are able to accomodate these requests? Ive also read plenty of good/bad things about the SSR- we will be staying there with a 3 and 4 yr old. Any tips, advice? We have a 1br villa. Thanks so much.

SSR is a wonderful resort. The zero entry pool and sray jet areas at the main pool are great for kids of all ages. And the Grandstand also has a very good pool/spray area.

As for location and getting requests, its really hard to say. I have stayed there twice. The first time I requested the Springs but checked in at 11:00 and was told they could get me a unit (we had a 2br) in the Paddock right then, the Springs would be closer to 4:00 p.m. I decided to go with what was available right then, since I had my elderly parents with us. I was so glad I did! We loved that area. It was about a 5-7 leisurely walk to the main area, we had a quiet pool right outside our building that was very nice and the busstop was also there too. And at night, we were one of the early stops to be let off which was a real plus.

The next trip I again requested the Springs since my husband's family was with us and his cousin was very adamant about wanting that section. We got it fine, I did like being so close to the pool but in all missed the Paddock area. It just felt more peaceful and the quiet pool was so nice over there, although of course my kids loved the slide at the Springs Pool. They also played games at the pool with the kids (hoola hoop contests, water balloon toss and others) on several of our afternoons which was very fun.

In all, I think only the Carousel is less than perfect, and even that section would be fine if you had a car or don't mind a walk. If somebody is griping about the location of their room/unit at SSR that is typically where they were!

If you can, phone a few days ahead to go over your requests and check in early. Ask where they are putting you and if its not what you want, if you ask them what your other options are they will check around and see what they can do. In the end, requests are often a luck thing. If they have the option to put you where you want to be, they will. But sometimes if the resort is full or you are checking in late in the day, you may end up in a different area. Which in some cases, as in mine, that can be a good thing!

You'll love the one bedroom for the space, jacuzzi tub, kitchen (its nice for breakfast if nothing else) and the washer and dryer! Have a wonderful trip!
