We are planning a trip the end of August 05. I am interested in possibly renting a studio at BWV for the week.

Is this worth it? I mean better than booking say a moderate hotel?

Also, when is the latest I should go about doing this to ensure a reservation?

Thanks!

Hey you are on the BW - walking distance to both Epcot and Studios - you decide.....

I would do it now.

Ask for a standard view - but this is late (BWV member can make the request 11 months before hand) - so there might not be any standard view left.

the standard view would save you quiet alot of money. but don't be disappointed if none are availability.

there is no thing that moderates have that BW (or other deluxes) don't - a food court. but you will have a kitchennett - you can eat in the room instead of using a food court.

the different in a value and preferred for 13 pref and 11 std (aug 16-31) - or 14 pref and 11 std (aug 1-15)- per night/

you don't want to stay over the weekend fri/sat - 32 p, 28 s - over the weekend per night.....

A 7-night stay in a studio during the last week of August would run approx. $1230 (preferred view) or $1070 (standard view) based on $10/pt. It averages out to either $176 or $153 per night. There would be no other charges for taxes/resort fees/etc. Just get a quote on what the total price for the moderates would be and see how things work out.

Also, as spiceycat stated, a huge chunk of that total is the Friday & Saturday night stay as the points are so much higher. You might want to consider staying in a moderate on those nights and moving to a DVC resort Sun-Thurs. Disney will transfer your luggage at no charge (except a tip to Bell Services).

Thanks for your help.

I thought it was cheaper to rent by the week...would that be Saturday to Saturday? How does that work?

DVC resorts have no point discounts for staying an entire week, all points are priced on a "per day" type basis, with Friday and Saturday night stays being more than other nights of the week.

Also, unlike regular Disney resorts, if the "season" changes after you check in, the points are charged to reflect the new season..at "regular" Disney hotels, the season rate you are charged for your entire stay is based on your check in date.

Run the numbers. Your best deal will be Sunday to Friday night and will most certainly be as cheap or cheaper than even a moderate. Even a full week or longer with only one weekend will likely work out in your favor.

We have decided to rent points for a studio for our honeymoon. Before we found out about renting points we were going to stay at POR. I am so glad we have been able to upgrade. I am thrilled about having all of that nightlife in the hotel (Jellyrolls, ESPN club, Atlantic Dance hall) and everything else on the boardwalk. We will be able to walk to Epcot and MGM. We just think that their are so many more advantages to staying at the BWV its wirth the extra money (and its cheaper to rent then book through disney)
