Question about renting Points

I am new at renting points out, so please bear with me. My use year is April 2007- I banked my 2007 160 points, I am going to AKV in May, using 182 points, then I sold 110 points, so I have 28 points left for 2008. Now I need to sell some of my points for 2009- (BTW-I am paying for my DCL for 2009 with cash- that is why I am selling), can I sell them before I even receive my 2008 points? Thanks fo any help!!

I believe you will have to wait until you are in your 2008 UY before you can tap into the 2009 UY points.......so after April 1st you can borrow 09 points. The only chance you take with borrowing is that if the reservation were changed or cancelled it could leave you with points that would have to be used by UY end or would expire.

You do not have to wait until April. You can borrow 2009 points now for a stay in your 2008 use year.

Just be aware that there is added risk when you use borrowed points for a rental. If you use current year points and there is a cancellation, you can either use, rent, or bank those points...subject to the banking deadlines, of course.

Whatever points you borrow into your 2008 UY will have to be used prior to March 31, 2009. If there is a cancellation of your rental, you will not be able to put the points back into their original UY, so they'll be "rent or lose" if you're not taking another trip. Depending on when the cancellation occurred, that could be a big problem.
