I wasn't sure if questions were allowed on the rent/trade board so if this should be moved, please feel free to do so.

I may need to rent points for a January trip (already borrowing from next year's allotment  ), Here are my questions:

1. I'd prefer to have the points transfered into my account. How would this work? Would the person transfer them first and then I pay them? Or do I pay first? I realize there is a trust issue here. If I paid first (paypal-cc) and the points didn't materialize, would I be able to dispute it through my cc so I'm not paying for something I didn't get?

2. Does it matter where the points are from? Since I'd be booking 7 months or less out, there would be no home resort black-out period (I think). Or does it matter what uy the points are from to detrmine booking date deadlines?

3. How long does it take for the points to show up in my account?

SSR is my home resort if that matters.

Thanks! I've never rented points before so not sure how to handle everything. Gosh, a DVC owner for one year and I already need more points! :teeth:

The terms are negotiable. I suppose you could dispute it with your credit card - if the other party didn't have a valid confirmation number from MS, you'd probably be successful. However, Disney will not get involved in any dispute - that's why they have the provision that points should not be transferred for any remuneration. SInce credit card transactions through paypal cost more, you may be asked to pay the fee in addition to the price per point.

FWIW, if I were wanting points transferred in,m I'd just look for a DIS poster with a lot of posts and decide from those if he/she seemed trust worthy. If I were going to worry a lot about this, I just wouldn't do it - I'd pay cash for my "extra" stay. JMHO. YMMV.

Shouldn't matter where the points are coming from. At 7 months a point is a point is a point. There have been reports lately that MS is asking that the use years be the same, but I don't think that is a bona fide requirment (might have to ask for a Supervisor if CM doesn't want to do what you need done). Do tell the CM that you want to make a reservation with the transferred points so that they get put into your correct use year to make the reservation (if the use year of the other party is different from yours).

AFAIK, the points show up immediately.

Usually it is you pay first and then the points are transferred into your account.

2. It shouldn't matter where the points are coming from, if you are 7 months or less out. I guess when points are transferred in, they take on your home resort status but you could have them manually change them into the original home resort. If that made sense but I don't think it matters.

3. THe points show up in your account immediately.

I am sending you a PM :)
