Question about reducing party size for an ADR.

I was wondering if anyone could chime in with any wisdom. I made a couple ADRs for 4 people, but there is a chance that the other couple is deciding to do something on their own for those evenings...

Here are my questions:
A.) Do I need to call Disney and have them reduce the party size

B.) What if I just show up at the correct time with only 2 people instead of 4, but tell them my situation. Will they turn me away?

No they will not turn you away.

However, if you're going at a very busy time of year, you might call ahead and tell them to reduce you to 2 people (once you're positive).

It may make no difference, but then again, it might be that they can juggle tables around and put you at a table for 2, freeing up another table for 2 people.

If you're going at a slow time, and it's not one of the hard to get restaurants....probably not as big a deal to call ahead. But with all the hubbub about ADRs being unavailable, it might be a nice thing to do.

They might tell you that they cannot reschedule you if you call ahead to reduce your party size since it would require giving up your table for 4, and a table for 2 is hard to get sometimes.. We have never had a problem just showing up and saying that the other party couldnt make it (we usually throw in a "they weren't feeling well")

You can call ahead but if they don't have a party of 2 available to book you at, you'll lose your reservation all together.

They won't turn you away, just tell them 2 weren't able to make it.

Normally, I would say to call and reduce the party size. BUT - those pesky tables for two are so hard to come by (I know from experience). So go ahead and show up with two if necessary.
