Question about recent add-on. Waiting for call back from guide.

We recently purchased 150 add on points at BLT. I have a use year of September. So when I go into my vacation points on the member website #1 it says my home resort is "null". Then, when I look at vacation points it says September of 2009 points only. Since I purchased right now, should'nt I still be in the Sept. 2008 use year and then come September of 2009, get another 150 points?

Does that make sense?

No, with BLT you will only get 2009 points (hence the reason why your MFs are prorated for the year 2009). Since BLT is a brand new resort, there aren't any 2008 points available (although those who are buying in 2010 should be able to receive the option of getting 2009 points with various UYs). And, until BLT opens, you will see "null" as your home resort. It's just DVC's way of reminding us that we can't use our BLT points to stay at resorts until BLT actually opens (rumored to be August 4, 2009). You can, however, use your points to make reservations now for stays after August 4th. Hope that helps!

Hmmmm that is not what my guide told us whehn we bought. We asked him several times if we would get points now and then points this coming September and he told us yes everytime. We have not signed our paperwork yet and I think this may change our minds. We only bought so that come February, we would have enough points to stay without borrowing any.

I would definitely call your Guide and please do let us know what he/she says. If DVC is offering 2008 BLT points, that would be news to me. Either way, I hope it all works out for you!! Good luck!!

Ya, that was really the only reason we added on right now. I know when I called to add-on, I had two conformation questions and that was one of them. And he told me yes, I would get 2008 points immediately and then 150 more points come September. But I am thinking you are right since 2009 points are the only ones that showed up in our account. That really stinks that he would tell us that on multiple occasions and be wrong about it.

Did you receive Developer Points? If so, they are designed to replace the current year's points that you did not receive. That may be why your Guide states that you receive both year's points...

No, not for a BLT purchase. He said they did not have developer points for it.

If this works like the 2008 AKV points issued for Kidani before it opened in May, you are correct, you SHOULD see those points in your account listed as 2008 UY. Of course you can't use them until the resort opens - but that's a different matter.

Your guide needs to straighten something out... either he led you wrong & there were no 2008 points, or it could be perhaps it's because they haven't received your paperwork back - speaking of which - sift through it and see what it says in there...

The first set of points being given for BLT is Feb UY 2009. There are no 2008 points for that resort.

So, with a September UY, the first set you will get is this upcoming September. Your guide must have misspoke and possibly got confused with what typically happens with an add on for an open resort

I am sorry that this happened to you and I totally agree. I would not be happy with my guide either if I was told this and then found out that it wasn't accurate.

I would certainly share with your guide your disappointment in being mislead as to the status of points for BLT, since this is not a small issue.

He has not called us back yet and I am getting impatient. We are both at work and our paperwork is at home so we don't have the number for quality service handy but will call them today or tomorrow morning if we don't hear from him today. This is unacceptable, IMO.

So I just got off the phone with quality assurance because our guide still has not gotten back to us. She said we have to talk to our guide because she does not know what he did or did not say to us, but that she has never heard of people getting 2008 point for Bay Lake. She said she was going to e-mail him and tell him to call us immediately because we need our question answered before we sign the papers. She said if he does not call in two days, to call them back. So it looks like he is in the wrong here and we will not be adding on. I am really bummed out as I was so excited to plan a February trip to BLT.

Just as an FYI, her maintenance fees would be prorated anyway, since she's not buying on January 1st. We just added on at AKV, and received both 2008 and 2009 points, and we only have to pay partial dues on the 2009 points (prorated from the date of the purchase).

He left him a message saying there is no such thing as 2008 points for BLT that maybe we were thinking AKV or something. Uh no, we never talked about adding on at AKV, only BLT. So anyway, I called back and asked to cancel our contract.

Soooooo, you guys were the ones mistaken? Huh...whatever! We DISsers are never mistaken. Again, I'm so sorry for your headache this week. Maybe you can reconsider again in 2010 when they'll be 2009 and 2010 points available??

I'd love to know who your guide is...we had a similar situation when we went to add on in Dec. He told us OVER and OVER and OVER again that if we added on at AKV (we owned there already) we would receive AKV developer points. BLT add on would get us SSR developer points. We were very skeptical, having a very good understanding of DVC, so we asked another guide at a member function. Our guide was VERY wrong as we suspected!!!! We called and asked for a different guide and now we are VERY happy with him. He is/was right on top of everything!

And for what it's worth, we have a Sept UY and only received 2009 pts--plus an equal amount developer points for SSR.
