Hi
Does anyone know if the shops are open in the US on Presidents Day? Also what day is president's day next year?
Would it be wise to avoid the parks on that day.
Thanks

The weekend before Presidents Day and the Monday holiday will be extremely crowded. Avoid the theme parks until the Tuesday after if possible, when the crowds become much lighter. Or better yet, go the week before and leave before the holiday weekend. Everyone in the NY metro area has the entire week off, so many people visit during that time. We have learned to arrive in Orlando after the holiday weekend for much better touring conditions. If you are already committed to visiting during the holiday weekend, don't worry...Just use Fast Pass and be at the parks when they open and you will still have a great time.

And yes, shops will be open during the holiday. The post office and government offices and schools will be closed. Next year Presidents day is on February 19th.

Hope this helps!

Mardi Gras holidays also influence the crowds at WDW that time of year. Only the schools in Louisiana, and some in Alabama and Mississippi are out, but almost everyone I know around here goes at that time.

My cousin went this past MG and she said it was crowded, but not overly so. Comparable to the beginning of summer. Nothing like Christmas or Spring Break.

In 2007, MG will fall on February 20th. Most schools around here are out at least through the 21st, if not the entire week.

When President's Day and MG fall at least a couple of weeks apart, it's not so bad. When they happen at the same time, it could get pretty crowded.

Just thought I would give you a "heads up" on another holiday that could influence things.

Go to Florida Mall on Pres Day - great sales all weekend, mind you its always busy with locals - avoid the parks esp MK and Epcot. Seaworld wasnt too bad a couplke of years ago, I remember.
