Question about Postcard

HI everyone.

Just received a postcard w/pin number. It is for a Value Resort at a rate of 59.00. My family and I would rather stay at a deluxe or moderate. I think I have heard in the past on these boards that they will offer a discounted rate for a higher class resort only if the resort of your choice is sold out for your dates.

Is this still the case? Is this correct or is my memory playing tricks on me? Should I call and see if they'll give me a discounted rate for another level resort?

I called and asked about the rate for a deluxe when we received a postcard. I'd call if it were me.

I recently received a post card for a deluxe. I called and I was eligible for specials at values, moderates and deluxe. It is worth the phone call for sure.

I got a postcard for a value resort and when I called the cm gave me rates for moderate and deluxe resorts. I called to see about changing the dates from this summer to the fall because thats when our next trip is planned. Couldn't get the dates changed but they were offering some really good rates.

I received a postcart with a pin #. When I called and asked if I could use the discount at a mod or deluxe level hotel, I was told no. I don't know if the vale resorts were all booked up on my travel dates or not. I would call and try . Seems like sometimes CM's give out different info @ depending on who you talk to. Sounds like the same postcard I got last week. I called and was able to apply the postcard rate to my existing Contemporary reservation. It lowered my rate from the Disney visa rate by $10 per night. I'm pretty sure that the rates they gave me were the same as the AP rates.

I got a postcard a week or so ago- it was for a mod for $74 until mid July. Of course- I have a Seasonal AP so summers are blocked out for me and I got a great rate for our May stay- PopCentury for $60 including tax.

Call them; they often seem to have some flexibility. After all they are trying to move people into those rooms.

We received a post card to our address, but to the wrong name. The skillfull Guest Services Dept. explained to me that we were obviously NOT the family the MARKETING Dept. was trying to reach, so too bad. What quality customer service! I proceeded to drop my planned stay down from 6 nights to 3, I'll stay the other nights at US. While "sorry" about the situation, no offer was extended to my family. The CM even stated that since the resorts are so busy with the current promotions, lost revenue nights would be hard to notice.

And when I called to make our ressie I was offered the Contemporary Resort at a great rate too! We just happened to have REALLY wanted to try the Pop Century and the $59/night rate for us was FABULOUS considering we are leaving in 2 weeks and then returning at the end of June thanks to the Postcard Invite! LOL I do believe the CM told me it would have been $194 for the Contemporary per night ... definitely call and ask! I am so excited!!! I can't wait to go ... we will be staying at POFQ for 9 days and my kids have NO CLUE ... they are busy planning for the June trip and I am about to BURST with excitement!!!

I got the postcard too. It said it was for the Values for $59.00 per night. I was already staying at the contemporary with the disney visa for 159.00 per night. I called and asked if I could use it for the contemporary and sure enough it lowered my rate to 149.00 per night!

thank you for your responses. Great to know that you were able to use the rate for a different level resort. I haven't nailed down my dates yet because my dh is interviewing for a few companies right now and we don't know when he can go on vacation.

We had a $79 postcard rate for a moderate in Jan. We had our heart set on PC because of Tyler but the three CMs we spoke to said we could only use it on a moderate.
