Question about points

We are new DVC members this year, and I remember reading posts about an increase in points required for some rooms at some times. It is my understanding that the total number of points is fixed, so where and when did a stay become cheaper? Just curious...

There has been only one DVC point reallocation- in 1996 at OKW.

Some nights went up a few points, some went down a few points and most didn't change at all.

There was certainly an uproar over those changes at the time. On a personal level, it adversely affected our travel plans, so we remedied the situation by adding more points- an addictive remedy. Still looking for a 12-step program.

Enjoy!:smooth:

Points for non-DVC resorts (such as Polynesian, Grand Floridian, etc) are not required to remain the same and have risen substantially the last couple years. That may be what you heard about.

The simple solution is to not use your points at non-DVC resorts. Paying cash is usually a better deal, and a much better deal if you get a decent discounted rate. And don't even think about using points at a non-DVC resort on a weekend!
