Hello all...

We made our first DVC Trip to SSR for Aug 8-14, but due to the hurricane we decided to leave Friday (Aug 13) instead of Saturday (Aug 14). What happens to the points that we do not use for the Friday night?

Thanks,

You forfeit the points. Basically, the room was still yours that night--neither DVC nor the resort had the ability to re-book, therefore the value was lost.

You could always try calling Member Services to explain the situation. They may be willing to bend the rules just this once due to the weather. But generally speaking, when staying on points, the entire trip's worth of points is committed the day of arrival.

Well I called Member Services today about my points for leaving a day early due to Hurricane Charley. They looked up my reservation, and stated they had already posted the 68pts for Friday night (2 bedroom unit) back into my account. I thanked them for their understanding. I then asked what restrictions were on these points, and the MS Rep stated there were none. In fact they allowed me to bank these points for next year!

I must say the understanding and customer service I received from DVC Member Service was above and beyond what I expected. I was expecting the points to be forfeited, or at most only allowed to use the points for this UY.

That is great for MS to take it upon themselves to do this for you. Thanks for letting us know.:D

Generally, when there is a major problem like a hurricane or suspension of air travel, DVC has been very reasonable. Glad they were the same this time.
