Question about points needed

We have been planning a trip for April for seven of us and had reservations with my points for Sat thru Sat. With recent flight prices we have decided to add one night to our stay, which will save us money. Now I need an additional 40 points for the one extra night (two rooms studio at AKV, which is the least points) and only have 30 left to borrow. I was reading on the trade/rent board about buying additional points. I have a friend who is also a DVC member and I think he would sell me points or I think I can do this through the trade/rent board. How does that work? We are staying at AKV, my home is SSR and his home is BCV. Really appreciate all info.

Thanks!

If your friend is willing, you could ask him to transfer the needed points to you. However, with the one transfer per UY rule (in or out), for a small amount of points.

The other option is to have you book one of the rooms for 20 points, and have him book the other room with 20 points (still leaving you with 10--much easier, IMO, than a transfer.

If not, you could place an add on the rent/trade to see is anyone is interested in transferring you the 10 points.

Good luck!

Sandi,

If we do the transfer, does he just call DVC and request a transfer of points from his account to mine?

When you write "However, with the one transfer per UY rule (in or out), for a small amount of points". Does that mean he would not be able to transfer any other points out of his home resort for the entire rest of his UY?

Thanks.

Yes and yes.

Well, it turns out that it is harder than I thought it would be to get 10 transferred points. My friend doesn't have any left in his current use year. So I booked the AKV studio for 20 points for 4 of us and if I can't get the other 10 points by April to get another studio at Kidani, three in our party will stay at the All Star or Pop. I could have booked a studio for cash but that was almost $300, which would have just taken alot of the savings we have by booking the flights a day later.

The other option like Sandi had stated is to have him book the other studio for 20 points. I guess the avg is $10 a point or $200 that I would pay him. That would probably be better than owing him 20 points. So it is either do this for the convenience or go with All Star or Pop, which is less expensive. Our return flight leaves at 8am, so we would be up and out on Magical Express around 5:30.
