Question about point usage

Brand new DVC member here! I have a question about using and banking points. My use year is October, so I started out with 2024 points. I contacted Member Services and got my Welcome Home trip booked for December 2025 with those points, and they went ahead and banked the rest of them for me. Now that I've told friends and family that I have finally joined DVC, the possibility of a short trip this summer has come up. Am I able to use the banked 2024 points to book a summer trip or would I borrow from the 2025 points? Are the banked 2024 points now considered to be 2025 points? I thought I had all this down, but now the more I think about it the more confused I get. Suggestions and advice needed. Thanks!

If you do not have any more points in your Oct '24 UY, you would need to borrow from Oct '25. Once you bank points, you cannot "un-bank" them, nor can they be borrowed. You'd have to borrow from points allocated to your Oct '25 UY.

Points can only move in one direction so once they are banked, they have to stay in the UY where they were banked. Or borrowed, or transferred. But you can certainly take points out of your 2025 UY to use them in the 2024 UY, that is borrowing. I recommend making some sort of spreadsheet to track your point usage.

I'm assuming that all of your Oct '24 points were banked? Otherwise you wouldn't be able to use Oct 24 points for a December '25 trip. If so, you can't use them prior to Oct "25, even if you cancel the original booking. You could borrow 2025 points to do it, though.

Yes, it looks like they banked them all, then booked the trip. Thank you for pointing that out
