Question about placeholder reservation

We made a placeholder reservation on our last cruise and are considering redeeming it for one of the 2017 cruises. I have a couple of questions.

1) Do I need to call in to use this or can you do it on the website?
2) Does the placeholder entitle you to a reduced deposit? (We put the $200 down already, but I am assuming you need to pay an additional amount.) If so, is it a percentage like in the past, or did that change?

Also, if there is anything else you think I need to know about it, please feel free to share.

You have to call to use a placeholder, it can't be done on the website.

The OBB placeholder allows:
10% off the cruise fare
onboard credit of $200 for cruises 7+ nights and $100 for shorter cruises
reduced deposit of 10% on cruises 7+ nights; full 20% deposit required for shorter cruises

So depending on the length of your cruise, the deposit amount will be either 10% or 20%. You will owe the difference between that figure minus the $200 you put down already for the placeholder. (You must have made your placeholder a while ago, I think that cost has gone up to $250 this past winter.)

I haven't read of any blackouts for the summer dates, but if you happen to choose a blackout date (spring 2017 or something earlier), you will still get the onboard credit but not the reduced fare or reduced deposit.

Enjoy your cruise!

Awesome, thanks! We were thinking about a 5 night Bahamas cruise with two stops at Castaway Cay, but looking at them, they are basically the same price OR MORE as a seven night Alaskan cruise! Crazy! Maybe we will consider Alaska instead!
