question about pins

I'm new to the pin collecting and ordered several off ebay this spring and summer. I did several from one of the sellers listed on the "bad" list. Last night I sat down and looked at all my pins. I have one that I'm pretty sure is a fake pin. The enamel came off in one spot and it just looks crappy, but all the others look great to me. I looked at the backs and compared them to the ones that I actually bought in MK or DTD and I can't see any differences. Most of them have the little thing that says official pin trading or whatever it is and the same stuff that's on the ones I know are real Disney pins. Can anyone tell me anything else to look for? or any other ways to tell if you have fakes? And I did go back through each post on this board, but I'm still not too sure since all of mine "look" ok to me. And remember, I'm very new at this, so I haven't had a chance to look at anyones collections or to see ones that I knew were fake. I did see the ones that the CMs had, but didn't know that some may be fake.

I finally found my list of pins and which sellers I bought from. Most of mine came from thewill, and they are listed as a good seller, so I don't think I have too many bad ones. I dont intend to trade many, so I'm not going to worry about fake ones. I am just collecting for fun and to remember our trips. Thanks!

I don't want to cause a ruckus on this but you can still trade those pins. As long as it has disney stamped on back you should be able to trade it. I just got back and traded many many pins, some that I received were broken (i.e. a little stone missing from tinker bell, a wheel missing from a skateboard). I also received some pins that were probably fake but I liked anyway. Just wanted to let you know this.

If you visit the link in the my signature page 1 has a few links you may want to check out. Also visit pinpics.com, it's not an official Disney site, it's run by fellow traders. :)

This is bad advice, please OP do not do this. Yes people do but then someone else gets a broken or fake pin, we are attempting to discourage this type of thing by having our super thread......of course it is up to you and no one here will know what you do but we do ask that you do not follow this advice. :)

I was just trying to say that someone's broken pin might be someone's treasure. I don't care that I got broken ones. I love the two pins that I got even through missing pieces. I also have some in my collection from years past. I just trade what I like.

Really? Because no where in your pp did you say that. :)

Then that broken pin should be on someone else's lanyard not a CM's. I have damaged pins that I love as well, I even have a few Sedesmas that I love but it's not the right thing to do, to trade broken (or scrapper) pins to the CM's. Because what if I don't know that the pin I just got is broken, what if I think it's 100% fine and then later I find out I traded a pin in good shape for a broken pin, personally that doesn't make me very happy. Do I still like the broken pin? Probably but it's broken, and I paid good money for my traders to get complete pins in return, not broken ones.

I'm happy you like your pins and you plan on keeping them, that's great but that's not how it's supposed to be done.
