I was just wondering -- if someone sponsors a person for one of the pin events, what is the sponsor entitled to for their $25?

Thanks.

Hi there

We have sponsered several people, and for their 25.00 fee..we get all the pins they request..plus everything that comes w/ the event..we also do the map hunt for them, and get them the completer pin..

plus the 25.000 fee..they pay for all of the other costs incured..the pins they request etc..

We have had a ball doing it, and it gives some of the people on the boards a chance to participate in an event they otherwise wouldn't have a chance to

Kathy,
That depends on the person you "deal" with. Some will give you everything, others will keep some of the stuff. I have heard that some sponsors keep the Walt with......pin for themselves.
I am bringing a group with me and they are all attending the event so we can help out some people on the boards. The people who pay the $25 will get whatever pins they are "awarded" on the RSP. I contacted each one and asked their preferences were, and how many of each they wanted.
My sons will also do one map and get the completer pin which will go to the person who is paying. If the person wants I will buy the map pins for them. O course the RSP and map pin cost will have to be paid by the person who is sponsoring, I'm not THAT generous. lol
The person will also get the Walt with Patriotic Mickey pin.
the only thing my sons will get is the food coupons, and from what I heard from the AS event it will be for a hot dog and soda.
We are not doing the parks that day and this works out good because if it was an in park event I might ask for some of the admission costs because of the time we would be spending at the event. But after we are done with the event we are doing the Florida tourist stuff like mini golf and go carts. Peggie

Wow.. I didn't know some people actually kept the Walt With pins! Yikes. Isn't that kind of what you are paying the $25 for? Otherwise you could just get the event pins on eBay or trade for them!

Donna and Family and Peggie and Family.. thank you both so much for being so nice to the DIS community and helping them out like you do! :)

actually it was my DD Lauree ismetoo and my DGD who did most of it, before Lauree got sick, and then I became the proxy den mother.. It is a lot of work, but worth it to help out..

I couldn't believe it when I heard that some people who proxy take the event pin..and some also want dinner paid for, and a set of pins paid for..

Sorry my mind doesn't even go there...

The girls just do it for the fun..and trust me last week standing in that sun for over 2 hrs..you start to question that version of fun..

but the next one is in a nice air conditioned hotel woo hoo

Donna

Yep, I had someone tell me that if I paid their $25 fee they'd keep the Walt with pin AND the completer pin!! All I'd get is any other goodies (like at the Big Pin Event there was a banner) and the "right" to buy the LE pins.

I can think of a lot better things to spend $25 on. I finally found someone willing to give me everything for the $25 fee.

I can't believe that someone wanted all that, and then I am reminded of the poor soul that had someone proxy for them at the Princess Event..

Not only did they have the sponsor pay for the Character breakfast, they got to keep the lovely medallion and the Walt pin, and a set of the princess pin..so for her 25.00 fee this sponsor got one set of the princess pins..woo hoo..can you say.."taken down the garden path"
I don't know if they got the map or completer pin, but they have already lost out on the best part of the sets anyway..

It was an awful day, as I said my DD walked around in the pouring rain, pushing her DD in a wheelchair, and got everything for her sponsor, w/o asking for anything extra..we did get 3" of rain that day..remember..

So a word to the wise..pick your proxies carefully

and it is up to you on how generous "you" want to be..to buy your proxy a special pin or something is your choice..

Thanks for the responses everyone. It's interesting to see the differences in what's expected.

If anyone knows of a "nice" pin trader who's looking for a sponsor for the Epcot event, please let me know.

Thanks.

I'll proxy but here are my terms.

1. You pay the entrance fee's that's the $25.00.

2. I keep the map and pin hey its my feet we're talking about here.

3. You buy me one set of pins, its only fair.

4. You pay me $20.00 for gas surcharge… UPS does it.

5. You pay 1 months payment on my auto loan, for the use of my vehicle to get me there.

6. Food I want food, be it Breakfast, and lunch, or Lunch and Dinner you pay for two, hey I'm walking to get a map pin that I'll keep, but I need my strength to stand in line for you to get your one set of pins you ingrates.

7. Dog sitter money, cant leave my poor snooky wookie alone now can I.

8. Soda money lots of it because its Florida nuff said.

Those are my rules not bad… not good but not bad. :p

In all reality if I were to do it, and since my grandkids do it we set up the rules as follows.

You pay the entrance fees; you get it the entire enchilada the map, the map pin, any freebies that come with it. What do we get well we get to go have fun and play at the parks.

Now we are better proxies than most, cause we have Annual Park passes. Some proxies are here on vacation and want you to pay for the park pass as well.

But it also works both ways I have had people ask me to proxy my grandkids for them (Hmm kinda makes sound like a pin pimp) and they want more than what we get. Example they wanted some of the silent auction items, which meant we had to sit there and wait until the auction ended to make sure they won, the grandkids wanted to ride the rides, so guess who got stuck at the auction.

We are more than fair, the person we were proxies for at the AK event even got the dino egg dig pin, and two stuffed animals we won at the games. All we ask is be fair back don't ask for babysitting requests like auctions, or for us to take pictures or videos, and please don't send your aunt Edna down and hire us as combo pin proxy aunt Edna entertainment. (Yes that has happened as well, it was suggested that's as far as it got)

Well, luckily I don't have an Aunt Enda (however, I do have an 80-year-old mother who's been getting on my nerves --- hhhmmmmm).

No, really, if you're seriously offering, all I would ask for is the freebies, the map and completer pin and whatever LE pins it's possible to get. If possible if it's not too much trouble I'd also like the pins to complete the map. So I would pay the admission and pay for whatever LE pins and map pins and shipping on everything (preferably priority or some other safe method -- my goodies from the WWoS event are lost in the mail as we speak).

My email address is KJU304@aol.com if you want to email me directly when it's time to register. I'll be away from June 16 to 22nd.
