Question about photos posted on this board.

Are we allowed to borrow photos people post here?
I would like to use quite a few, most of them are nighttime shots, since my camera doesn't do night shots at all.
It would be for a personal scrapbook only.
I don't want to steal them so figured I would ask first.

I'm sure if you asked the person if you can use their photo in your personal scrapbook they would be ok with it.

Honestly, if you are not planning on making money with them, I think people would just be complimented.

Anyone who truly cares about credit usually "watermarks" them with a logo a la Miceage

You should PM the person who posted it and ask if it's okay to use it. It's good karma and courteous to ask first, just in case...

Legally it is their picture so you must get permission to use it. Make sure you do not hotlink the photo. The site also should have somewhere a policy on use of images on the site as well as content. I would wait for the site owner or agents thereof to officially answer this question.

I have already went to photobucket when someone used my image without my permission and in a negative manner. I did not mind my image on this site but have enemies in one community thus I do not want my image all over the internet.

You need to ask before using! The person who posts the pic owns it, if you just take it you are "stealing" in all senses of the word. Of course the few times I've asked I've never been answered or I've been told no.
