Question about Online Checkin and Cancelling

I think I’ve read if you have to cancel a reservation the day of, you forfeit all of the points for the whole reservation, but if you modify the reservation to check in the next day and then cancel if you can’t go, you would only lose the first night and the remaining points would go into holding. Is this correct? If so, how does that work if you’ve already done online check-in? Would you forfeit all of the points for the entire reservation if you’ve already checked in online?

Having completed on-line check in has no impact on cancelling or modifying a reservation.

I hurt myself and went to ER on Friday Feb 3, and was at HHI, and we were due to check into CC Feb 4. Had to call the morning of February 4 to cancel that stay, plus the stay at BCV for Feb 10-12.

I have a March UY, So holding or not, I would lose my points 2/28. What MS did was give me the one time banking exemption and any points that came from UY 2021 were put ahead into 2022.

Probably 1/2 the points were thus saved for me. I am grateful.

I was able to use the other 1/2 points February 26, 27, for a one bedroom at BWV. I just was hoping I would be well enough to go, and I am healing well enough that we plan to go!

So, I think altogether ABOUT 120 points were involved… 60 were banked, 58 are being used and I lose 2.

I had already done on line check in for both CC and BCV stays.

You have to modify at least a day out of original date and you’d be all set.

The system won’t let you modify online once you get to the check in day and you have to call. They might let you do what you want.

We are on our way now and with all the wrecks we have seen it made me wonder what would happen if I did online checkin and then had a delay. I didn’t realize you couldn’t modify day of. Thanks for all the information. One more question. Who would you call if MS was already closed for the day?

As long as you plan to still go, just contact MS the next day. They won’t do anything in terms of canceling if you are not there for the first night.

I was told if no one accesses the room after night 2 has passed and there has been no notification of a late arrival, then they could cancel.

When you enter the parking lot, you enter on the left and give the guard your name & tell them you’re checking in. They may ask for ID, so we have one ready. After that you enter on the right and use your MB/room key to open the gate. No parking passes anymore.
