Question about number of people on reservation....

Hi everyone
Ok I have made all of my ADR's and they were made for 6 people, well my sister has decided at the last minute to go with us and I called disney dining yesterday and there was no way to add one more on to our ressies, does anyone know if all 7 of us were to show up if we could squeeze her in??? I don't want to create a problem, but this has stressed me out, I asked her 7 months ago to go and she said no, and now 7 days before we leave she decides to go

I know they are very inflexible as they are just filling in slots on a computer screen. We have the reverse situation, having gone from a party of 11 to 10. I plan to just make the adjustment at check in, I think there is a lot of flexibility at the podium.

Sometimes they will let you with "no problem, sure" - and sometimes they won't. Sometimes the chairs are such that you can't squeeze a chair in and you'd need a bigger table - which is sometimes possible and sometimes not.

I'd be prepared to tell her she may eat counter service alone a few nights - but I'd also ask at check in at each stop.

I would take the chance each night and just show up. I would also show up at least 20 min's earlier to.

Has anyone tried to add the extra person when you have ressies before the park opens? We are dining at CRT and want to add 1 more adult.

Agree with the PP. Be prepared for the possibility that they cannot accomodate your party size and have a contingency. Either everyone leaves or your sister makes alternative arrangements. (Want to know what my vote is )

Usually, if going from an odd number of diners up to an even number isn't a problem, a table for 3 will almost always seat 4. But going from even to odd can be a problem. A table for 4 can not usually accomodate 5 and allow adequate aisle clearances for wheelchairs and servers. So there could be a problem going from 6 people to 7, especially if the way the restaurant serves a party of 6 is to combine a table for 4 with a table for 2, there isn't always the area to pull up an extra chair.

As others have said, try to make the change at the podium, but it may not always work out.

Our group will have the same issue. My brother knew he was likely going to go for a couple days on our trip next week, but wasn't sure which days. He couldn't pin down the days due to the way his schedule rotates, so I had to make our reservations for six. Now that he knows he'll be there Monday - Wednesday, I've tried to change to 7, but knew the answer before I even called. I was able to manage to get a party of 1 ADR for Sci Fi at the exact same time as our party of 6 ADR there. The other 2 ADRs are for dinner at Coral Reef and dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern.

We're going in with the plan to ask at the podium if they can accomodate 1 more person. Perhaps I should let them know he's not on the DDP.

We're hoping with DS1, that might give us a better chance for my brother to eat with us, but not counting on it. Also, hoping they allow us to put 7 in the 6-seater car at Sci Fi. With 2 little ones, I know physically we can do it, but not sure if they'd allow it or not.

I made reservations for 4 people 180 days out. Last month my sister decided to join us so now we have 5. The only one I'm really worried about is California Grill. If they can't accommodate 5, then my parents will eat elsewhere that night. I'm just worried about my credit card being charged for the 4th person. Does anyone know if they would charge me if the 4th person on the reservation didn't eat with us?

We were a party of six and had ADR's all worked out for months before our trip this past July. At the last minute, my 15 year old niece decided to join us on our 10-day trip, and I panicked about all the reservations. Some I was able to change to a party of 7, but many I could not. We just stuck with our plan and went to each reservation, stating that we have an additional guest with us. The CM's worked with us and were very accomodating! I felt very lucky that things worked out. Even at TeppanEdo, where the table seats 8, (usually they will combine a party of 6 with a party of 2 to fill the table), we were able to sit as a party of 7.

I agree, the best thing to do is just take a chance, and show up extra early for each reservation, and be prepared to wait if they don't have a table to accomodate all of you.

They can treat you like a walk in if they are very busy.
