Question about Non-Expiration Passes

Does anyone know if the paper pass can be used without adding it to MDE and the Magic Bands? We currently have APs without water park access on our MDE. We also have completely unused 10 day NE hoppers with WP&M and would like to use them only for a day or two at the water park. I don't want to add them to MDE as I'm afraid they might get used for our regular park admissions instead of the AP. I know they can be prioritized but I'd prefer to avoid that altogether. If we show up at the water park with our paper passes, will they be accepted for admission?

They will convert the paper pass to a plastic card. That should work for admission.

Awhile back, I remember someone posting that they had NE passes as well as regular 7 day passes and somehow when they went through the gate, a day was taken away from the NE pass. I wouldn't chance it. You could probably get it fixed at guest relations but it'll take time out of your vacation. We have alter ego magic bands in our MDE. The ones with the NE WPFM uses our middle names so we don't get confused. Regular passes are on our regular MB

We have almost the same issue - annual passes and non-expiring tickets. I created "phantom" profiles in my MDE account to link the non-expiring tickets to so they would not be used accidentally.

I used our first and middle initials as our first name and then our correct last name on the profiles. If we actually want to use these tickets to go to a water park, we will just use the plastic tickets, not our magic bands.

If you do this, you can also make extra FP+ reservations for those phantom profiles using the non-expiring tickets. When you go to use your FP+ at an attraction, just tap the plastic RFID ticket to enter the attraction, not your magic band.

But if you didn't use the non-expiring to enter the park, wouldn't the FP+ reservations be invalid?

When I was at WDW this past January I had 2 issues with my paper non-expiring tickets:
1. When I tried to order Fast Pass + dates on mydisneyexperience, and could not, tech services told me that all the entries on my ticket had been used up. When I got to WDW I went to member services as I was sure I should still have had entries. I was told that the ticket was charged for some of my entries using the special 4 day ticket they sold to DVC members last year! They corrected the problem by adding back the days, and converted my legacy paper ticket to a plastic card.
2. I used my non-expiring Park Hopper a couple of days later. At the gate I went to member services, and that too was converted to a plastic card.
I still have one paper non-expiring ticket.

We also have "dummy" family members for some other passes purchased thru Disney that we aren't using yet. Our NE ones were purchased from Undercover Tourist so they were never linked to an account or guest. Are you saying they have to be linked in order to use them, or only if we wanted to use FP+? We plan to use them randomly over several years so I'd prefer to avoid linking if possible. And that brought up another question. For admission purposes, could I be both my "real self" and "my middle-name self" using different passes and Magic bands? Is Disney's system able to detect the same fingerprint on two different persons? I don't recall, do the water parks even use the finger scan?

No, they do not have to be linked to use them. They only have to be linked if you want to book FP+ in advance. Once they're linked, the card is no longer associated with the individual ticket, but rather acts just like a magic band associated with your account.

sneaky but I like it!!

I think the first was meant to be sarcastic - a dig that every family has that one dumb relative... but I could be wrong. ;-)

"one" would be a huge upgrade for me. :). That's the part you're wrong about... The quantity.

You can prioritize which ticket media should be used in your account. Haven't tried to do personally, but the Concierge was able to do for is a couple weeks ago. It worked perfectly. We had a 1-day ticket we wanted to use before a no expire park hopper and that's what happened.

Do you ever have problems linking your DVC reservation in MDE when you want to use the ticket associated with the phantom? I have NE park hoppers with several days left but bought a 5 day ticket from UT for my next trip. I'm tempted to create a phantom profile to link the new 5 day pass but am thinking that the real me needs to be linked because my name is primary on the reservation.

I have never used our non-expiration tickets for park entrance - we have had AP's for years.

If you did want to use your ticket that was linked to a phantom, I would just make the resort reservation as usual with your real name. You would just not use the magic band associated with your resort stay for FP+ reservations. You would make the FP+ reservations using your phantom ticket, and use it for entrance to the attractions. Use your magic band for resort entrance and room charging.

Yes that's what I was thinking. I will loose out on the 60 day window for FP but might be worth it not to have to go to guest services and make sure the right ticket is being used.
